Our stay at Claudia’s Caboose in Valley Head, AL was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Staying in a real train caboose—beautifully renovated and thoughtfully designed—made for such a unique and memorable getaway. It’s as cute as it can be, with just the right blend of charm and comfort. One thing that really stood out was how well insulated it is from outside noise. Even when the train passed by at night and blew its whistle, it didn’t bother us at all—it actually added to the nostalgia. We would choose this over a hotel any day. It’s cozy, unique, and perfect for unplugging and spending quality one-on-one time together.A couple of tips: if you plan to grill steaks, bring your own steak knives and cook before dark since outside lighting is limited. Also, there’s a toaster oven/air fryer and microwave, but no cooktop or oven, so plan meals accordingly. The location is great—close to antique shops in Mentone, Hammondville, and Fort Payne, plus nearby waterfalls to explore.Claudia was wonderful. I texted her about the handmade goat milk soap, and she made it herself! She was very responsive and a great host.Highly recommend for a unique and relaxing getaway.
