The Neighborhood:
A short walk from the Panthéon in the heart of the Latin Quarter, Rue de Mirbel sits in one of the most authentic and lively parts of the 5th arrondissement. The area is popular with students and academics from the nearby Sorbonne and universities, giving the neighbourhood a pleasantly young, intellectual energy year-round. The Place Maubert market, one of Paris's most beloved local markets, is just around the corner and runs three mornings a week with excellent cheese, charcuterie and seasonal produce. The surrounding streets are full of independent cafés, wine bars and small restaurants.
The Seine and Notre-Dame are a short walk north, and the Jardin des Plantes, the Grande Mosquée de Paris and the Musée de Cluny are all close by. Saint-Germain-des-Prés with its galleries and legendary literary cafés is just across the Boulevard Saint-Germain. The Jardin du Luxembourg is within a comfortable 20-minute walk. This is one of the most culturally rich and enjoyable parts of Paris to explore on foot, and everything feels pleasantly within reach.
