First, I will say that communication with the property manager was excellent. The preparation for how to access the unit, and securing early check-in for us was super appreciated, especially as we had just arrived from a cruise ship.
The best way to describe the Tides is "solid." It's very typical for most Hollywood beachfront properties, but is in need of renovating. Its lobby is dated and ditto for the floor hallways. The amenities are kept in OK condition and the pool area is in good shape.
The unit itself falls into this same class. It's nice, with modern-ish Miami-style decor. It could benefit from a light reno as the bathroom is small and worn, along with the rest of the unit. The balcony faces north and offers a solid view of the beachfront.
Pricing for these units comes down to supply and demand, especially during the holidays, but our bang for buck here was medium-low given the price we paid.
Couple notes about our experience. On day 2, my wife and I noticed that we were abnormally itchy, which we initially chalked up to the sun. When my kids started complaining about excessive itchiness on day 3, we spotted several small bites around their bodies indicating bed bugs.
I informed the property manager of the incident, but have not heard back. I will update this review if and when I do. Aside from this notable issue, this is a solid beachfront property for a family of 4, though optimal for a couple.
