Paradise in Key Colony with Cabana Beach Access

This is a fisherman's dream rental. 3/2 half duplex in Key Colony Beach. By water 5 min. to the Atlantic and 15 min. to the Gulf thru Vaca Cut. Located on 5th Street with dockage out back on a blue water canal and room for your boat trailer. Have you ever wanted your own private beach? You'll have it here with Cabana Club. You'll have access to the pool, hot tub, bar, snack bar and the private beach with an amazing view. We installed an oversized A/C unit to keep you cool. You'll love the open kitchen/dining area and a spacious living room. Queen sized bedroom sets, 42" smart TV's and alarm clocks with usb charging ports in all three bedrooms. New couches in the living room.. 55" smart tv in the living room to watch all you favorite shows, movies or play your favorite games. House is equipped with high speed internet and wi-fi. Tired of spending money on ice everyday? We provide an extra chest freezer and use a local guide trick by making our own block ice to fill our coolers and add water to make a freezing cold bath for your catch or drinks. We also use this freezer to freeze our fresh catch. Local guide trick, fill your bags with the fillets and salt water then freeze. This stops freezer burn. We've also had the pleasure of returning from the grocery store and realized that there is only enough room in the refrigerator for food and no room for the beer or drinks. I mean it's only 1000 degrees out and you need cold drinks. Problem solved. We added a second refrigerator for just beer and drinks. The house is equipped with a gas and charcoal grill, fish cleaning station, 2 kayaks and life jackets. City of Key Colony requires a signed rental agreement for guests stay. We will send out a link prior to check in for electronic signature of the rental agreement.

Great Stay

This was a wonderful stay and wonderful location. We had great contact with everyone. The rooms were a nice size. The beds were very comfortable and room to enjoy a nice family dinner.

Property needs updating

1. Over size AC causes more humidity , so uncomfortable and the humidity broke automatic lock. I’ve been a AC contractor for 32 years and could talk a lot about this but just know oversizing your AC is worse than undersizing it. 2. Barbecue grill is horrible cheap next grill that’s rusted out. Also there was no gas and no spare tank. 3. No 110v outlet at dock or outside unless you have a special 3 prong 110v outlet . Had to run power inside to charge batteries on boat. 4. We had termites invade the house while we were there. Made all of us very uncomfortable they were everywhere. 5. None of the TV’s in the bedrooms would work. The remotes were bad or broke and may have needed batteries. 6. The hose on the side of the house needs replacing 7. The shower curtains kept falling in both bathroom cheap $5 rods that don’t work on smooth surfaces. Been going on for a while because the cleaning lady knew about it. She also knew about the termites she’s been cleaning them up. I guess this owner just refuses to spend a dime to keep this place updated. It was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It wouldn’t take much to fix these things. I don’t get why they wouldn’t take care of these things.

Perfect Spring Break

The duplex sits in the beautiful Key Colony community. We have done several VRBOs in San Diego, this was or first in the Keys and we without a doubt will be returning! This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom is just what we were looking for! Although it was lacking in some of the luxury items, and did not have black out curtains like others had mentioned, it did have access to full time fishing and boating! The property was a short walk from the community club which was a huge bonus in the evenings, and near the boat rental facility. We have 4 children, ages 8-12 who absolutely loved this location (fishing, kayaking, the beach). The property, older, but well kept and very clean. The kitchen included just about everything you would need on your trip (extra drink fridge AND deep freezer for your daily catch). The one thing I would say, the pots and pans set was by far the nicest of any rental we have stayed at! The washer and dryer was an added bonus, just be sure to bring your detergent. The neighborhood is extremely friendly, with lots of families walking mornings and evenings, the property owner next door came in for the week we there and was the absolute best! He shared some great local spots with us and even treated our family with sharing some of his daily catch! If you havent figured out your stay in the keys and are looking for a no frills, but really nice stay.. this is your place! 100% will return! Thank you for the AMAZING week at your beautiful property!

Great trip!

The property and house were exactly as described. The owners were very accommodating at check in. The canal behind the house was easy to access by boat. Would recommend bringing bumpers for your boat just because there were only a couple at the dock. It wasn’t a problem for us since we had some of our own too, but thought it would be a helpful tip for others to know!

Lovely home!

Great Spot for Fishing Families

We enjoyed our stay very much at Key Colony Beach. The neighborhood and community is relaxed and family friendly. This rental specifically was geared just for what we wanted it for - a family fishing getaway. The canal is easy to navigate. Parking for trailer on site. They have two refrigerators and a deep freeze which made storing food and drinks easy. Although, it did cram the dining area. Property was clean, free from any damages. No complaints. We did overcome some less than ideal aspects of the rental because we have an infant (no tub, smaller showers, only access to bathrooms is through a bedroom, no blinds or blackout curtains) but nothing to keep you from staying here. Just plan to shower and bring black trash bags to block out the sun. Great value and wonderful accommodations!

Keys fishing trip

We enjoyed staying in Key Colony. The house fit our needs. Clean comfy beds. Large kitchen. We cook a lot. Extra freezers etc were very much appreciated. We used Cabana beach club. It does get busy but we went later in the day as people were leaving. We went to Sparkys first night. It was ok but very busy. Preferred the little restaurant on 7th. The food service and friendly staff made it a great last night. We fished with Capt Kelly. Caught our Pompano limit. An adult manatee turned up at the dock our last day. He stayed about an hour drinking from the hose. It was magical. He rolled on his back and we squirted water into his mouth and fed him lettuce.

Family and friends vacation

It was nice being able to drive to Key West and then come back to a quiet place. Great location if you want to be in the middle Keys. Close to beaches and the kids loved the aquarium. There were a few hiccups, coffee pot had crack and confusion on trash day pick up. The host responded very quickly and accommodating. Everyone in the Keys were very friendly. We had a great trip.

Review

This place is really well kept! The only thing I would advise is the neighbor sometimes likes to talk (a lot) and we didn't want to be rude, so we avoided the backyard when he was home. Communication was excellent with the owner. Peaceful neighborhood. Watch for manatees or even sting rays in the canal, we saw both! Would recommend anyone to stay here!

Great spot!

Four of us stayed here. Perfect place to bring your boat - easy access to gulf and Atlantic and able to keep boat docked on canal on the property. We saw manateess and fished in the canal too. Property was clean and well kept. Included access to community pool and beach. Would definitely stay here again!!

Hard to beat for a fishing trip

Over all this place checks all the boxes. Location, space, amenities, and function. Only feedback is that the recycling was full of trash from a previous guest so the city wouldn’t pick up and the propane tanks were left empty from a previous guest as well. The water pressure in the kitchen sink was a little finicky as well. Most of these are not solely the homeowners fault and the rest of the property far out weighed any minor inconvenience. Gets 5 stars from me.

Florida Keys

We really enjoyed the house. I was able to put a boat on the back canal and launch it every day. We enjoyed the cabana pool that was nearby. The freezers were an added plus for fishing equipment. The house was kept nice and cold. We would come back again.

Beautiful Location

We loved our stay here in Key Colony! It located in the middle of the Keys, so it was easy access to both Key West and Key Largo! The back yard was great in the mornings and evenings! We went fishing and saw manatees in the back! The house had everything we needed and we felt safe our entire stay! We would definitely stay here again!

Great escape

It is a great home well located in the keys. There are many great restaurants nearby. El Molcajete is within walking distance & has excellent ceviche and fish tacos. The farmers market was also an easy walk and a nice surprise. Marathon had wonderful attractions for our kids with snorkeling, fishing, turtle rescue and aquarium. We also loved Sombrero beach where we watched dolphins and enjoyed the playground with our kids. We loved the property, the Cabana club’s pool and private beach, and the island and hope to return in the future.
