With separate living spaces, this vacation rental is perfect for multiple families. Offering a private splash pool with Gulf views, private beach access, an outdoor bar, and grill area, and beautiful outdoor/indoor living space, "Gulf Splendor" is the perfect setting for your next beach getaway! The living spaces in both the main house and guest house offer beautiful Gulf views and plenty of space for gathering and entertaining your whole group. The bedrooms are all well-appointed and beautifully furnished, with private patio access and stunning views from the main house's primary bedroom. The kitchens in each home are well-stocked and feature high-end appliances. Conveniently located within a one-mile drive or walk from wonderful restaurants, bars, and grocery stores, you'll have no problem finding entertainment for your whole crew!

Beach stay

Multiple maintenance issues, bad smell in master bedroom and bathroom, drainage issue in master shower. Difficult to open sliding door in 253. Pool was dirty when we arrived. Maintenance did respond. Beach in front of house was great and beach access was good. House is spacious and was good for large family

Destin memories

Great location on the Gulf. Beautiful views everywhere you look. House was beautiful, and very roomy. There were 18 of us between both houses, and we never felt like we were on top of each other. I cannot say enough about our host, Bob. He immediately returned my texts, and readily addressed any concern I had. Great vacation!

Unfortunately, Disappointing

I hope the Owner takes this constructively. We have done our family trip and stayed in larger homes on the Gulf coast for many years. Like most, we rely on pictures, reviews and look for "Premier Host" ratings relative to the price and then pick a house. I would say 9 out of 10 times we got what we were expecting, but this time it was a miss. First, the good... - Management responsive for the most part - House on beach as advertised with short walk - Carriage House seemed newer/cleaner and updated as advertised And now for the not so good... - Walked in first time and it smelled like someone dumped/sprayed heavy disinfectant everywhere (smelled like the inside of a porta potty). We had to open all the doors to air the place out. - Refrigerator was beat to hell (i.e. seal on door pulled off, drawers damaged, ice maker barely made ice - Kitchen faucet constantly leaked - AC on main level went out constantly, repair man out twice plus I was repeatedly fixing myself - Master shower oddly had 3 different shower heads, but only center head had hot water (apparently brought up in a July 23 review, but still not fixed!) - "Well stocked with high end appliances"... that's a big no. Hodge podge of pots/pans, miscellaneous glasses, maybe 2 glass wine glasses. Appliances standard at best and not all functioning properly (see faucet and refrigerator comments above). Overall, at price point, main house condition/décor just felt cheap and screamed deferred maintenance.

Palmetto bugs…aka Florida cockroaches.

House is in perfect location, right on beach, close to everything! Well stocked with toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Rooms are nice size with bathrooms even though baths were small. The bads…MAJOR bad...a couple of days into stay, I grabbed a bag of trail mix from pantry area. Bag was slightly open. After several handfuls, I reached in for another handful to a nasty surprise! HUGE roach!!! Alive, crawling in the food I was eating!! I was completely disgusted and mortified! I immediately contacted owner who “corrected” me and said they are palmetto bugs. (Google it… palmetto bugs are FL cockroach!) He told me they are pests and all Floridians have to deal with them. He contacted pest control to come spray. He assured me that they sprayed on regular basis and that it “just happens”I l have rented hundreds of different places in FL and have NEVER seen a live palmetto bug in rentals much less in my food. You expect for a house at this price point (or any rental) to be bug free and your food to be safe from bugs in pantry. I had to throw out several hundred dollars of food that had been opened because I couldn’t be certain it didn’t have bugs.I had to buy large containers to keep our food in to keep it safe. I told owner all this and he really didn’t care. The pest control came next day. The guy told us that house did NOT have regular pest control service! We saw more live bugs in other areas too. Pest control has to be regular done to be effective! We will NEVER rent there again!

Location, location, location!!!

Can’t say enough great things about the location of this house, especially with the 3 balconies that have ocean front views. Having said that, there some minor maintenance issues. Also expect to have to get basic necessities like extra tp, paper towels, trash bag, salt, coffee filters etc as the property only has very basic paper products and nothing kitchen wise, like coffee filters. Other than that the house is amazing!!

Comfortable, but several issues needing Attention

We enjoyed our 3 generation family time at this property. The beach views are lovely and the house(s) are comfortable. There is a lot of construction along the street making it difficult to maneuver at times. There were a few issues that need to be addressed: - lower window on 2nd fl was left open and was not close-able- repair was made after this was reported - 2 Shower Heads in 4th fl Bath were not operational, only the Shower Wand worked - this item was not rectified - Outdoor grills were very dirty as was the outdoor counter on the Main House First FlOutdoors - Bedspread in the 2nd King Rm was full of pet hair - Garbage cans at the Main House were overflowing from the previous rental and we had to put them out to the street on Monday eve - these should have been cleared before we arrived - Upon using the dryer in The Main house several items came out with rust stains on them, we resorted to using only the W/D In The Guest House - Some of the blinds could not be easily raised/lowered and/or opened/closed - only 1 roll of TP per bathroom, 1 roll of Paper Towels per Kitchen, No Kleenex, Only 1 kitchen garbage bag per house, only 1 hot pad between 2 houses, and a few DW det pods . At the cost of this property an adequate supply of these items should be provided - Beach chairs are provided but only 6 For up to the 22 guests the property can accommodate - No Beach Towels are provided - At the price point for this house there should be a set

Serenity on the Ocean

Check-in was seamless. The views from every room on the back of the main house are breathtaking. Want to take a walk on the white sand beach for miles in each direction? Just walk out the back door. The property was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to prep and serve 3 meals a day for our medium sized group. The beds were comfortable and temperature control worked wonderfully - both on the cool and the warmer days. The location of the property was very convenient for eating out, running to the store for groceries, or hitting the local shops. Three flights of stairs with luggage? Not a problem - there is an elevator. Anytime we had questions the manager responded quickly and took care of us.

Great view of water and beach. Clean neat and orderly. Plenty of space for the 18 of us from 75 to 10 years old. Eight grand children. We hit a cold snap so pool never got warm. Unfortunately for my wife and I the elevator did not work the last 2.5 days. Great family Christmas vacation.

Not so good…

Positives Extremely Beautiful view from all rooms. We Loved the location. 6 chairs and 3 umbrellas Plenty of room Negatives Master bath smelled horribly of mold and sewer. House was very dirty. Bought mops the 1st night. Owner did send housecleaning crew back but they used nasty towels to clean. Furniture disgusting. Had to buy quilts to cover. Dead in road flooded and we could not get out. Disappointed. Is an understatement.

Nice house, but advertised quite different

This home is much smaller than the pictures make it seem, the price for this home is outrageous compared to the size. Master bathroom has a toilet that must not be sealed correctly so it smells of sewer, the other bathrooms were not cleaned very well. The times of trash pick up are labeled incorrectly on the information sheet on the fridge. The pool was shocked twice during our stay and the chlorine burned and bleached our children's suits. Each bathroom only has two towels for the week stay. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the ac worked great. Overall it was an ok stay but wouldn’t pay this much for this home again.

Great Place to Stay!

We had our family consisting of 14 members aged 8 to 66 and found the house to be comfortable, clean, bright and adaptable for our diverse needs. Everyone had enough space to catch moments of solitude and spend time together.
