Careful attention to detail was taken to ensure this historic property had all of its character preserved while receiving modern appointments and amenities! Plenty of room to gather and entertain, and do NOT miss this outdoor space with a brand new hot tub ready for your enjoyment. ALL of this - nestled in the city of Louisville with entertainment and attractions just outside your front door. This. Is. The Place.

The Space:

"I was built in 1860. My walls have stood long before you were born and hopefully I'll be here long after you pass. I was built with American ingenuity during the growth of this country in its early stages - especially in Louisville. I've stood through many wars, numerous inventions and ways of travel that have changed society, a devastating flood in 1937, countless eras of history, and so much more.

I've been a feed mill, a saloon, a grocery store, a restaurant, and an antique store. As you walk my halls and rooms you will see homage paid to the various eras and days gone by. Some of these are important to the growth and development of my city even still to this day. My new owners didn't try to hide all of my wear and tear over time. They've saved everything that was original, and preserved, everything that was original for you to enjoy and admire the hard work of those who invented, constructed and built the foundations, civilizations and comforts we now have today, and take for granted as we've never known life without them - and can't imagine a life as the world was when I was built"

This space has undergone a full, no expenses spared, renovation with an eye for detail aimed toward keeping all of the historic features in tact. You will not find another space quite like this; Modern convenience and history harmoniously married in a stay that is truly an experience!

Enjoy multiple gathering spaces both outdoors and in! Have your coffee on the elevated side porch or enjoy a relaxing evening under the lights in the hot tub - or gather with friends and family for a meal and darts or foosball! Something for everyone, not a detail overlooked.

Parking - off street parking is available on nights and weekends along the side of the building. (a local business owner is kind enough to share). In the rare event off street parking isn't available, you can park right alongside on the street, it's free!

We absolutely loved this building! It was an honor to stay in such a historic place, and we truly appreciated the beautiful design … especially the exposed brick that preserves its authentic charm.The host’s communication was excellent, and they were very accommodating even though we booked last minute. If we’re ever back in the Louisville area, we’ll definitely stay here again.The neighborhood was fantastic too (great coffee shops and the market with food vendors/arcade was super fun). The folks at the bike shop down the street were some of the nicest people we met!

This property was a very cool place for a large group. Loved that there were 3 floors with bedrooms and full baths on each floor. Two large master suites with kings size beds on opposite ends of the 2nd floor and an entire 3rd floor suite were great for the kids. The large open kitchen and living room were great for gathering with our large group. The only suggestion for improvement is to have a better stocked kitchen. Our plan had been to prepare a large family dinner during our stay but ultimately decided against it - quality and quantity of knives, pots, pans, cooking sheets could be improved and there were no mixing bowls, only one cutting board and chefs knife could be replaced. Overall the accommodations were good, the layout was awesome, the entertainment options were great, we enjoyed Atrium brewing nearby. Highly recommend for a large group.

I would love to give 4 or 5 stars but my experience won't allow it. The property and neighborhood are full of character and has an awesome hipster up-and-coming vibe which worked great for our guys trip. However, over the 5 night stay our two issues with the property ( a shower that wouldn't drain and a downright disgusting hot tub were never addressed nor acknowledged by a human being.The auto-reply instructions and responses are the only means of communication with the hosts. If there had been a major emergency, I guess it would have never been resolved.Sadly, we never were able to have full use of the property, due to those issues so renters be aware.

Overall the property is accurate as listed and comfortably accommodated our group of 5 guys who wanted to visit the Bourbon Trail. We wanted a unit we could crash at w a hot tub we could use when we returned later at night. The hosts were quick to respond to messages and the checkin process was easy. As 5 grown men, we felt comfortable staying here and we walked to nearby restaurants and breweries. There are a lot of homeless people around so I'd think twice if it was an all girls trip or if we had kids. The unit is clearly being utilized as a short term rental and has alot of wear and tear; the shower/tubs did not drain (but we also didn't notify the host, since we didn't want anyone coming into the house while we were out. Overall this property met our needs and we had a good time, but it does have alot of wear and tear.

Reviews were for most part were correct. Beautiful historic place with lots of room. Especially liked the 3d floor area for our 3 teens to chill & hangout. Very steep stairs to get into the 2d floor apartment and 2d set to get to 3rd floor. Kitchen was sparsely stocked and limited towels. Found a couple broken things - towel rack in bathroom & dishwasher. The main issue which wasn’t very clear is the outside noise: trains throughout the night, loud cars, a busy liquor store next door as well as the flight path to airport. Listing says possibly noisy but I don’t think that’s accurate. 1st night - Saturday, was very ruff and 2d -a Sunday night with liquor store closed and not as much street noise was better. Did use ear plugs that helped. If you’re a heavier sleeper and don’t mind stairs, it’s a really cool place with lots of room. Question to host unanswered but nothing urgent so not huge deal just mention. Easy checkout.

Some issues but overall good stay

We were in town for Memorial Day weekend, and our first visit to Louisville. Location is great if you have a car. We were able to see Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger Factory, Kentucky Kingdom, The Brown Hotel, and explore Nulu all within a 5-10 minute drive. Easy to walk to local coffee shops. Comfortable beds and furniture, nice showers and hot tub. Foosball and shuffleboard very fun. Downsides: very sparse kitchen utensils. Literally 5 forks and spoons. No way you could have a meal here for more than 4-5 people. No corkscrew. Had to go buy our own at 11pm when we finally arrived after a long drive. No hairdryers in the entire place, even though the listing shows they are here. That’s a big deal for women, ha. Dart board broken. Hosts did not answer any communication during stay, which would have been a problem if a more serious issue. Steps are very steep, so be aware of that if anyone has mobility issues. With all this said, we would definitely stay again because of the overall comfort and location. But needs some attention from host to the details.

Great place for a bourbon tour stay

This space is super cool! All 8 of us walked in & had the same wow reaction. We loved that there were several “gathering” spaces in the house, where we could all hangout comfortably & especially loved that there were 4.5 bathrooms for all of us to get ready efficiently & comfortably. The neighborhood was cool b/c there were some cool walkable places to eat & drink. We were also a quick Lyft ride to yummy eats.We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

Perfect for large group

My family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) stayed with my sister’s family (2 adults & 2 kids) here. It was perfect for a large group. There was a whole third floor that was great for the kids to use and adults to have some separation. I will say that the stairs are super steep, so I would be aware for little kids or people with mobility issues, but it was a great stay. There was a cool food hall just a few blocks down that ended up being nice to go to.

Slightly dysfunctional but lovely

Very nice and clean with some games to entertain. Easy checkin and not a cumbersome check out routine. However, towels were missing in action, couple lights didn’t work, missing lightbulb and a broken toilet seat. Owner never replied to my message and VRBO had a hard time reaching them.

Not Worth the Money

The heating units in two of the bedrooms did not work. They sent space heaters, but it wasn’t warm enough in the downstairs bedroom. The parking lot was a solid sheet of ice. The shower curtain didn’t cover in one of the bathrooms and was missing rings. There were no hand towels for any of the bathrooms. The dishwasher was literally falling apart. The owner was great about communicating and the check in/out process was easy. However, for what the price was per night, I expected better.

Charming house

Group of 8 in town for Bourbon Trail tours. Plenty of room for everyone. Large kitchen and living area for everyone to gather. Beds were comfortable and could not hear noise from other bedrooms. Could hear the train, but came prepared with ear plugs, thanks to other reviews. Not a huge deal, but a little inconvenient...not enough towels. One bath towel per person, no hand towels, less than one wash cloth per person, no towels for hot tub, and no kitchen towels or dish cloths.
