Heron 506-- 3 Bed/2 Bath Destin West Bayside Condo--sleeps 10!!

HERON 506 offers wonderful views of the bay and lazy river! This luxurious condo has 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, with almost 1600 sq. ft. living and over 400 sq. ft. of patio space. The spacious living room has plenty of seating and all the comforts of home including a sleeper sofa and a large flat screen TV. A sliding glass door lets lots of sunlight in and opens to the balcony where you can relax enjoying all the sounds of summer while watching the palms sway in the breeze.

This modern kitchen features all stainless steel appliances and offers everything needed to make a delicious home cooked meal, including Keurig and regular drip coffee pots, blender, toaster oven, crock pot, etc. The lovely granite counter tops and bar provide lots of space to prepare dinner, and serve. The large dining table seats 6 and is the perfect space to enjoy playing board games with the family, as well as dining.

The elegant Master Bedroom has a King platform bed, triple dresser and large flat screen TV. This bedroom offers a private bathroom with a Jacuzzi jetted tub, separate shower and two sink vanity. It also features a sliding glass door that provides guests in this room their own access to the balcony overlooking the tropical scenery.

The second beautiful bedroom gives one a sense of serenity with its aquatic hues and holds a King Bed, along with a double dresser and a flat screen TV, while the third bedroom with its whimsical flair offers a bunk bed with full on bottom, twin on top, a twin trundle and a chest of drawers with yet another flat screen TV. All bed covers are new and top of the line.

Free High Speed Internet with Wifi for your laptops, ipod, ipads, etc.

Girl's Trip

Me and four of my girlfriends rented this condo for our annual girls trip. We were very pleased with the overall stay. The unit was clean, communication with the property manager was easy and the beds were comfortable. We did drive across the street for beach access instead of walking the sky bridge. I

Falsely Advertised

My family and friends recently stayed at Heron 506. I can tell you the description and photos on VRBO and Best Beach Getaways website are VERY MISLEADING. The only thing in the condo that is newish is some of the furniture. Many things did not work like the AC (cold air only came out of bunk room vents), pocket door to bunk room would not close, hot water heater went out for 48 hours, fan in family room didn't work (only light came on). Many things were filthy, floors blackened your feet in about 3 minutes, kitchen and bath cabinets all stained, jacuzzi tub stained and very old, moldy & mushy wall in master bath because shower doors not sealed so water sprays on wall, curtains all were either heavily stained or torn. When I pulled back the comforter on several beds, the sheets did not appear clean, I had to rewash sheets (gross). This place is a hot mess, literally. The fitness center is advertised as "state of the art", it might have been state of the art in 1970. I probably spent more time calling and texting maintenance than I did enjoying my vacation. No one is taking responsibility for the falsely advertised accommodations, Best Beach Getaways will not respond to multiple emails and on the rare occasion someone answers the 888 number, you will get a very rude man named Mike who is of no help. I have already filed a complaint with the FL Attorney General and the FL Better Business Bureau.

Be Warned!!

The air conditioning in the master bedroom was not working at time of arrival, no air was coming through the vents. I contacted maintenance and a repairman came out but determined that it could not be fixed. We were brought a floor fan and advised to leave the bedroom door open and put the fan in the doorway. We could not enjoy the view because we had to keep the curtains closed in attempt to keep the temperature down. The repairman stated the bedroom was at least 20 degrees warmer than the rest of the condo. The ceiling fan in the living area also did not work, the light would come on but not the fan. We were advised the ceiling fan would have to be replaced but with female family members in and out of the unit this was not acceptable. The experience was made worse because we were under a heat advisory. The hall toilet also leaked into the hallway, I reported it and no one replied. I have requested a partial refund via email and contacted BBG by phone and text message and no one has responded to my request. VRBO contacted Best Beach Getaways July 11th and left a message for someone to reach out to me but I still have not received any communication from them. Beware booking this condo because if there are issues as I experienced you are not dealing with an individual owner, it is a property management company and VRBO cannot help you. The property was not in fully functional condition, we were cheated and now we're being ignored. Do not recommend!!

Beautiful Property

We stayed at this property previously in 2019 and decided to come back again in September 2023. The property has been updated and is beautiful! Everything was as advertised and the communication with the property manager was very easy anytime we had questions they were quick to respond. Only recommendation would be to add some additional silverware. There were very few and the spoons were all excessively large- like serving spoon size. Everything else was lovely. We love Destin West with all of the amenities and location with ability to walk to the boardwalk.

Convenient comfortable place

The beds were very comfortable, as other reviews the floors could use a really good mop but I find that true in most beach rentals. Other than that no complaints on cleanliness. We loved the lazy river and easy access to the beach. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice Condo but Noisy

This is a nice condo the area and the lazy river are great! The condo itself was nice but needs a good cleaning especially for the price you pay for cleaning! Floors were very dirty, master bath had mold or mildew in the shower. Pillows had stains on them which to me they need to be replaced! We brought our own as usual! The only other thing was that the walls are very thin and we could here all the noise at the pool along with the upstairs people who seemed like they were dragging and moving furniture across the floor all day and night! Other than that it was good 😊

The good and the bad.

Wish I could give better review. Let me start by saying the unit itself was nice & the family (7) had a great time. Plenty of room, comfy beds, pillows & towels. Overall unit decor was pleasant. Parking was good as we were always able to find somewhere close. Now for the bad...I spent the first 2 hours there cleaning which I am surprised seeing they are supposed to be following COVID cleaning protocols. The Kitchen cabinets were nasty with drips & spills with crumbs & debris on the inside. Dishes were put up wet, some still dirty that had to be scrubbed. There is not much room in the fridge as all of the door cubbies are missing but 1. ALL the switchplates & door pulls were gross in the entire unit. You could visibly see the ring of dirt on the surfaces around the pulls and caked dirt on the switchplates. Thank God for clorox wipes!! The linens in the king guest bedroom did not look or smell like they were fresh as there were stains on pillow cases and one was ripped. THE FLOOR 🤮...the entire floor needs a good deep scrubbing!!!. We could not walk around barefoot because our feet would get disgusting, leaving us having to wash them before getting into bed at night!! I tried contacting the number sent to me in the email & never got a response back. I have pictures of everything to show them if they ever decide to respond. There is black mold in the master bathroom growing in the grout and the ceiling where it looks like they have had a leak before. The patio sliding door is extremely difficult to open & close because of grit & grime that needs to be cleaned out of the truck. All of those are fairly easy fixes if they get a different cleaning crew. One thing that can't be helped is the long walk to the beach using the sky bridge, or the fact that the resort puts up 3 rows deep of umbrellas you have to rent for $40 a day leaving no room to setup up your own stuff. Great news though, there is a state park (John Beasley Park) just left of the resort that has a lot of parking & space for you to take your own setup and have a great day for free!! They have great amenities & one day they gave away fresh fruit juice popsicles as an added bonus. The AC never really cooled the placed down and that made for warm nights. The only thing that helped a little was making sure to keep the curtains pulled shut all day. The teens complained the front bunkroom was hot at night and also that guest bathroom was really small compared to the wasted masterbath space 🤷

Great family vacation

This unit had everything we were wanting and more. First impressions was the unit was bigger than expected and very clean. The location was great with many things within walking distance. The unit had a wagon with beach chairs that were very convenient and useful. We did have difficulty connecting to the Wi-Fi but property manager was very responsive and helpful. Overall it was just what we were wanting and will definitely be back!

Great time with family!

Our family of six stayed in this unit and we were not disappointed. The unit was clean and bright. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook light meals. The pool area was fun and the view was beautiful. Hurricane Ida hit while we were there, but the kids still played in the pools during the rain. We had friends who also stayed on the property and it was nice to all be in the same place but each still have our own condo to retreat to. Jennifer (the manager) was quick to respond to any of our questions or requests. We would stay here again!
