Inside, the open-concept layout invites connection whether you’re gathered around the wood-burning stove in the living room or enjoying a meal with loved ones. There are wall-to-wall windows that bring the lake and forest right to your fingertips. Radiant in-floor heating keeps the home warm and cozy, even in the colder months.

The spacious primary suite features a king bed and ensuite bathroom, while glass-paneled doors throughout the main floor lead to a covered outdoor living area — the true heart of this home. Sip coffee on the deck as the sun rises over the reservoir, fire up the grill for dinner with a view, or simply relax with a good book and the sounds of nature all around.

Upstairs, you’ll find two additional bedrooms and a second TV/play area with its own balcony overlooking the lake. This is a perfect space for kids, teens, or a quiet reading nook. For extra fun, head to the garage-turned-game room, fully equipped and ready for year-round use.

All TVs are Smart Samsung models with access to Samsung TV Plus, and guests are welcome to stream their own favorites via Netflix, Hulu, and more. LOCATION: In the heart of the Lake Vallecito recreation area, you are 1 mile from the marina, hiking, biking and ATV trails, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling - the San Juan wilderness area is at your doorstep! Vallecito also has a few restaurants and general stores. Appx 25 miles to downtown Durango and 50 miles to Purgatory Ski Resort.

NO PETS: Pets are not allowed at this home.

COOLING: Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

NOTE: In winter (November through April), 4WD is required. It is NECESSARY that you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, vehicles with medium to high clearance and winter/snow tires.  Although the roads and driveway are well-maintained, the road leading up to the home is somewhat steep and will be snow packed and slick.

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

VRC CANCELLATION POLICY: If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.
