«First time in a Ryokan 😊 Staff very friendly, breakfast was a great experience with lots of new, and for us, exotic tastes. Room was clean. Slept well on futons. The building had not been renovated for a while, but for us that was not important. Tatami mats were clean and fresh looking. Located right next to Gion and lots of sights, safe and quiet area. Did not use the onsen, as I have tattoos and were unsure about their policies on that. »

«Gorgeous traditional Ryoken. Problem at check-in almost ruined it but we worked it out. You check in and receive a cotton kimono, toe socks and slippers. Everyone floats around like it’s ancient Japan. The rooms are lovely and spacious for Japan. The onsen is like an excellent spa! «Super nice and friendly staff! Loved the traditional room with tataki mats, and with a dedicated area to enjoy some tea and the view! The kaiseki meals were amazing, it was like eating small art pieces! And you can wear japanese yukata while you are moving around in the ryokan! They also had an open bath at the top floor, which was really warm and relaxing~! Would love to come back! ^^»

«I can't explain enough how much we enjoyed our stay here. The staff was super courteous and spoke very good English. The location is gorgeous and quiet and the hotel runs a shuttle to and from the nearest rail station several times a day if you want to get into Kyoto proper. That said, it's likely to take an hour to get to Kyoto by shuttle/train or 30 minutes if you take a rather expensive taxi. Plan accordingly! I think we would visit again. »

«This is a traditional ryokan, and my second stay. First time was back in 2016 by myself. This time came here to stay with my wife. Bery friendly staff. I had a much better experience first time around, two ladies came and showed me how to change into a yukata and prepared my bed. Everything was more personal, this time they were a little busy. Too many guests. Still amazing experience. You can reserve the onsen for yourself privately. The dinner experience is a little expensive but worth it. »

«This place is run by a fantastic couple who also live in the building, like a "mom & pop" bed & breakfast in a way. The friendliness of the staff was unparallelled in our entire nine day japan trip with multiple stays. The places gives you that authentic, although not very comfortable, feel, with floor seating and floor sleeping. «We had a wonderful time at this farmhouse and it was all we imagined. The home was beautiful and well maintained. Very spacious for the four of us. The hosts are lovely people who went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The area has several great places to visit such as the thatched roof village, a special soba restaurant and the sake brewery. The scenery is spectacular. Highly recommend!!»
