Room and pools were great.
Staff was the worst I’ve encountered at a Mexican resort (this being our 4th trip). They constantly seemed annoyed with having to do anything.
The family concierge is not useful at all. I’ve booked a similar concierge room at Palladium Kantenah last year and this is like night and day in terms of quality. We had to reach out to them on our 2nd day when it became obvious that they were not attempting to introduce themselves. We constantly had to remind them that we asked for things like ice (there are no ice machines in this resort, or at least not in the family section that we were in). They couldn’t get us any reservations other than 9pm which doesn’t work with young kids. When walking by the restaurants between 6 and 8, they were never full. Not sure why no resos are available if the restaurants are empty.
Beaches were covered in sargassum, but that’s no fault of the hotel. it did however make the beach unusable.
Room was big however hot tubs on balconies don’t work. You would have to fill your tub for hours to get enough water. This wasn’t just our room, we travelled with 6 other families and none worked.
Some positives: pools and water park were great, buffet was good enough. Swim up bars were great and the drinks were well made.
In summary, not worth upgrading to family concierge and this resort is far from 5 star. Closer to 3.5 if you want to be realistic.
