We had a fantastic stay at Sandos Caracol Playa del Carmen as a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids), and we would definitely consider coming back.
Pros:
The hotel is very clean, and the staff overall are respectful and welcoming. One of the highlights of this resort is the wildlife—you really feel immersed in nature, which makes the experience unique for both adults and kids.
Check-in was smooth and quick, likely because we arrived outside peak hours, which set a great tone for the trip.
The restaurants were excellent across the board, with the Italian restaurant being our absolute favourite.
Another big plus: no need to wake up early to reserve beach or pool chairs. There was always plenty of space. The beach area with palm trees and long chairs is especially great, offering lots of natural shade and a very relaxing atmosphere.
There were nightly shows, and they were consistently entertaining. The pirate show and the fire show stood out as highlights, and our kids especially loved them.
A special thank you to Judy, our concierge, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and enjoyable. Also, a shout-out to Ruth at the omelette station (Italian restaurant), as well as Nury and Kevin for their great service.
Cons:
The food at the Laguna buffet was unfortunately quite disappointing and could use improvement.
