When we checked in through the app, we were offered the option to choose between the main building, cabanas, etc. we were rushing to catch a flight and were not familiar with the differences, we did not select any option. We were assigned a Cabana room.After arriving, we realized that the Cabana location was not convenient for us. We went to the front desk to ask whether we could switch to a similar room in the main building. Since the app had originally offered us a choice, I assumed that, as long as there was availability, a switch should be fine. The front desk staff initially said they would help, but later told us that because the reservation was booked through a third party (Expedia), we would need to contact Expedia to make any room changes. This did not make sense to us. The reservation only shows a “standard room” and does not specify a Cabana room. Additionally, Disney’s app offered us the option to choose the room location, which suggests that the hotel should have the ability to adjust the room assignment. It also appeared that the staff were willing to help until they saw that the booking was made through Expedia.
The interaction with two of the front desk staff members felt very cold. They did not explain the situation kindly, nor did they ask why we didn’t like Cabana room. We were also dissatisfied with the Cabana room itself. It felt more like a motel-style room, and there was no access to water. The vending machines didn’t work. Yes we tried a few!
