Grand Palladium Kantenah – nice staff and pools, but very poor organization and Family Selection service
We stayed at Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa in the Family Selection section as two families traveling with children. While there were some positives, the overall experience was disappointing for the price paid.
The staff were friendly and polite, and the Family Selection pool was calm and enjoyable, with some activities for younger children (2–5 years old). The bar and food service at the Family Selection pool was good, and this was one of the better parts of the stay.
Unfortunately, restaurant reservations were a constant issue. We were repeatedly told that no à la carte reservations were available, yet when we eventually secured reservations after persistance, the restaurants were quiet with empty tables. On New Year’s Eve, we were told a table for 8 was impossible, but when we arrived for a smaller reservation, multiple tables around us remained empty. This suggested poor reservation management rather than high demand.
Food quality was mixed. The Nest (Family Selection restaurant) was disappointing for both dinner and breakfast. The à la carte restaurants were average overall. At La Portofino, food arrived cold and service was slow, though we had drinks.
Our children’s sofa bed was bare with no mattress, which was fixed eventually. It just felt like everything was a task which isn’t a vacation.
