«Myself and 2 family members chose the Aalsmeer houseboat to explore Amsterdam and Keukenhof gardens. The houseboat is super cute. It’s a 35 minute walk to the bus station and we took an Uber for 10 euros because it was raining. Then bus to Hoofddorp to catch a train to Schiphol airport then on to Amsterdam Centraal station. «Beautiful 2-level space located within the bow of the family home (a small ship). One’s quarters are completely separate from the vessel’s full time occupants. The suite is spacious and very comfortable with all of the amenities you would need. Sander was very friendly and provided a lot of information about the area. «We had such a lovely and easy going stay on the Ms Luctor. We were conveniently located near Centraal Station and could get anywhere we wanted with the bikes available to us. On the other hand, it is very tattered, dated, rickety and an electrical nightmare. Extension cords and hidden switches everywhere and very dimly lit. Floors covered with throw rugs that all overlap; the walls and ceilings covered with fabric that has been stapled on. And, used toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet. «Dirty, the room had not had a good cleaning for a while. The receptionist happily «cleaned» it (removed the worst stains) when we arrived and complained. She promised housekeeping would clean the following day, but it never happened. Nor did they clean the following day....»
