Neighbourhood is shady, but hotel was ok.
Finding the hotel took us a whole hour. You get off the Chateau-de-Aux (or something like that) and you'll find the hotel within a few blocks. There are two ways of fiding the hotel's passage. We came through the one that you are very scared of getting pickepocket... Just like in any subway station in Paris! The people outside the hair salons are quite annoying and they get in your way even though you might not be their targeted clientele. Anyway, you have to deal with that from morning to almost midnight.
I suggest you agree to stay in this hotel because itself it was clean, with a really nice staff (servical and jovial), because we got a fan in our room even though the room had a window towards a wall (heat wave though, so the fan was a plus) and there was a bathroom inside. It is really for budget travellers. Those who aren't scared of anything. As two girls we didnt have any issues, but we wouldnt risk it again.
All our things were intact when we came back, expect the bed was made and the bathroom tidied. A little bit. They need to get better at cleaning bathrooms, but it wasn't horrible.
