«Hotel is on owner’s property. Very little interaction with them except a few calls. 3 stars is because of the smell of mildew and mold but it may be something they cannot control in a tropical location. However, it is so close to the National Volcano Park. We didn’t waste time driving to get there. Able to arrive early without having to wake up too early.»

She provided great service, a friendly and welcoming personality, plenty of great advice, and really connected with the patrons of this unique hotel. The person that wrote the description of the BIR is a gifted wordsmith. Everything was accurate and really highlighted the best of the BIR. «There was bugs in the room and bed , changed to another room bugs again. review said there are fresh muffins and bread in the morning, there was nothing , the wifi was terrible, tv did not work , no coffee. it was the worst experience. also, no Air conditioning»

«The cottage was cozy. The host was very sweet and helped us out with whatever we needed. The location was very central, so we were able to drive all around the island.»

«Nice old plantation style house with a beautiful yard and view of Hilo. Staff was nice and helpful, even tho I arrived a day and a half late. Very peaceful place to stay, with birds chirping in the morning and coqui frogs croaking at night.»
