Our stay started off badly and only got worse.
At check in, the front desk staff told us she was “upgrading” us to a room with a larger bed. When we got to the room, it was immediately obvious that this was not an upgrade at all. The room was clearly worse than what we had originally booked. It was a downgrade. She outright lied by calling it an upgrade.
We went back to the desk to fix the issue and showed her our booking. Her response was unbelievably condescending. She said “oh, you want this room” while pointing at the room we had originally booked. Yes, obviously. That is the room we paid for.
After finally being given the correct room, more issues appeared. The light did not turn on. I called reception and was asked if I had tried turning the switch on. It turned out the keycard switch was broken. A staff member came up and told me that every time I insert the card, I need to push it hard because it is broken.
The bathroom was also dirty. There was visible grime and dirt buildup from moisture around the edges of the floor, something that should be cleaned regularly. We also found a woman’s earring under the bed, which made us seriously question whether the sheets had even been changed.
On top of this, the hotel refused to clean our room during our first two nights. To make matters worse, there was a strange unpleasant smell in both rooms we were put in and throughout the hallways.
