They have a captive audience, so I didn't expect the best value. Anyone flying internationally out of Madrid knows that it takes forever to get to your gate. With a pregnant wife and a toddler, we were willing to pay extra to be right in the terminal to catch our connection the next day. I didn't expect luxury, but I expected mid-level comfort and quality.
Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet our expectations. They cut corners that I haven't even experienced in cheaper hotels. The mattress was firm and low-quality. The pillows were flimsy and small. In a country with fantastic food, the breakfast was embarrassing. They served sliced bagged bread, in a country where fresh-baked bread is the norm at any given bar. No fresh fruit or eggs were available, and the hot food was average. The overall vibe was not very focused on customer service or comfort.
For the price we paid, which was $407.65 USD, we are unlikely to return unless the alternatives are absolutely untenable.
