If you’re planning your first trip to Istanbul and feeling overwhelmed with hotel options, let me save you some time: The Galley Hotel is a hidden gem.
I stayed for over two weeks and it truly made my trip. I’m extremely picky about cleanliness and spent weeks researching because I wanted a sea view and balcony without paying luxury hotel prices. This place delivered. The room was spotless (and I’m a serious clean freak), comfortable, and the sea view was exactly what I hoped for.
What really stood out was the hospitality. Right after I booked through Expedia, the hotel reached out to help arrange airport transfers at fair prices, which made arriving in a new city much easier. As a Muslim woman traveling solo, safety was my top priority, and I felt completely safe and respected the entire time.
A huge thank you to Ali at the front desk. His professionalism and genuine care for guests made the stay unforgettable. The staff also kindly let me use the communal kitchen, which was incredibly helpful during a longer stay.
One honest note: the metro runs nearby, so light sleepers may want earplugs or headphones. For me, the sea view made it totally worth it.
And don’t forget the neighborhood cats! They’re adorable and part of the local charm—please buy some food and feed them if you can. It ended up being one of the sweetest little highlights of my trip.
About a 15-minute walk to the Blue Mosque, beautiful views, and staff who truly care. I’d happily stay here again 😊
