Toplitzsee

Toplitzsee, a beautiful lake only accessible by foot. This restaurant is the only thing in the area and serves fresh fish from the lake. We were staying on Grundlsee, a lake just outside of the town of Bad Ausee, and took the 3-Seen-Tour. The tour is a boat and walking tour of three of the lakes in the district (http://www.schifffahrt-grundlsee.at/die-drei-seen-tour/). I would definitely recommend the tour! We took the 3-Seen-Tour just down the street from where we were staying on Grundlsee. The tour is a boat and self-guided walking tour of three of the lakes in the district (http://www.schifffahrt-grundlsee.at/die-drei-seen-tour/). It is AWESOME! It takes you to the Toplitzsee lake which is only accessible on foot. There is a restaurant there that serves fresh fish from the lake. Not to mention the gorgeous view! Terrible check in process. Reception only open between 8-14 (no notification of this in advance). We arrived at 19:00 and needed to call sister hotel for a key code to get our room - but sister hotel (Hotel Stein) didn’t pick up the phone the first 20 minutes we called. Rooms are okay.

Taking the 3-Seen Tour of Grundlsee and the two surrounding lakes was a highlight of our honeymoon! Our visit was in October as the few leaves were just starting to turn and it was perfect. The shops and restaurants around the lake were mostly closed down as it was off season for them, but that added to the beauty of the quiet and calm. My happy place is always in the #mountains
