Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with our recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was far below what we expected, and both my family and I became physically unwell due to the conditions. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that the room was extremely dusty, which quickly became a health issue—especially for my child, who became ill from staying there. I attempted to address this with the front desk, and we were eventually offered a different room. Unfortunately, this room was even worse than the first. We specifically requested a thorough cleaning, but the only action taken was changing the duvet covers. The ventilation system was clearly neglected, and it blew out visible dust particles. It is evident that the system has not been serviced in a long time. Additionally, the carpet was dirty, and the bathroom was in poor condition and in need of renovation. After our experience, I believe that the hotel should not be in operation in its current state. This was an extremely uncomfortable and health-hazardous experience for us, and by far the worst hotel stay we have ever had.

The reason I chose this hotel was simple: I needed an urban base for a multi-day Asian food crawl through Markham's predominantly Asian neighborhoods. Mission accomplished. The Hilton is surrounded by an incredible number of excellent restaurants, making it an ideal home base for exploring the area's food scene. The hotel offers oversized rooms, plenty of free parking, friendly staff, a spacious lobby, and a hotel bar that's better than you'd typically expect. The beds were comfortable, though I'd rate them a notch below what I normally expect from a Hilton property. The separate living area had plenty of seating, but the furniture prioritized durability over comfort. For such a large suite, the bathroom felt surprisingly cramped. It's the kind of layout where you have to close the door just to step into the shower. Even more puzzling, the shower controls are located directly beneath the showerhead instead of on the opposite wall, guaranteeing you'll get an unexpected cold or hot splash before you've even stepped in. The hotel's design has definitely aged. The lobby and hallways were probably quite modern when the property opened, but today they feel frozen in another era. Strangely enough, I found that part of its charm. The guest room corridors reminded me of a doctor's or dentist's office, while the lobby gave me unmistakable RoboCop vibes for reasons I can't quite explain.
