Holly Hill Leisure Centre

The only good thing about this hotel is the Reception and Bar area. We stayed 31st July 2026. The welcome we received whilst booking in at Reception was professional, friendly and courteous. The bar area is welcoming and the Bar member of staff was chatty and friendly, but I am afraid that is it. Our room 226 was very hot, no air-conditioning. The shower didn't work and there wasn't any hot water. It trickled out of the hot tap. My wife had to have a cold bath. The bed was a Queen size massive bed but was far to soft for us. This meant we didn't get a good nights sleep after travelling 500 miles from Scotland. We went to the bar area and sampled the beer and wine. Reasonable prices and both were well kept and fresh. As we passed the Restaurant area some two hours prior to it opening for Dinner, I saw salads had been put out on a middle table in a very hot room. I was a little concerned at this as there was only a very small chiller in one corner of that room. None of the salads were in this chiller. Things got worse when we went down for dinner. It was self service 1990's style. The mince pie was heated up from another day, was dry and the pastry looked plastic. No signs to as what the food items were. The Mushroom stroganoff looked disgraceful and the rest of the food was extremely basic and unprofessional. Breakfast was the same, soggy hash browns, dried up bacon and over done sausages. Extremely poor!!
