I want to warn other travelers about my experience at El Mare Hostel. The stay was extremely disappointing, and the conditions were nothing like what I expected when booking.
The room was unbelievably small, more like a closet than a real room, and it had no windows at all. The bed was a small cot with plastic covering on the mattress, which made it almost impossible to sleep comfortably. The space felt cramped and poorly maintained.
The entire building smelled strongly of food because people were cooking near the rooms, and the odor filled the hallways and sleeping areas. It did not feel clean or comfortable.
What made the experience worse was the management’s response. I contacted them about my concerns, but they did not seem to care or attempt to resolve the issues.
I was also charged an extra $40 just to store my luggage, even though I did not have access to my room at the time. This charge was never clearly explained beforehand.
When I checked out, there were several people arriving who had reservations and had no idea how to enter the property. They were standing outside confused and trying to figure out how to get in. I took pictures because the situation was so disorganized.
Overall, this was a very frustrating experience, and I would strongly caution others before booking here. Buyer beware.
