So I drove through the night, to get here before sunrise. Unfortunately the trail is closed until the visitor center is open, which was after sunrise. I was able to race down the trail and see why some 120-200 Navajo called this home at one point. It is perfectly placed to get shade through morning and a spring is nearby.

These trees were so contrasted with the red and gold cliffs and ground all around.
So I drove through the night, to get here before sunrise. Unfortunately the trail is closed until the visitor center is open, which was after sunrise. I was able to race down the trail and see why some 120-200 Navajo called this home at one point. It is perfectly placed to get shade through morning and a spring is nearby.
As I walked back up the path saw this dead tree. Even though I was only a mile or so away from the actual ruins, I could not imagine walking to and from that every day. It is thousands of feet in elevation gain/loss getting to the bottom of this canyon.

Il est évident qu'on paie pour la vue et rien d'autre car l'hôtel est assez vieillot, certains meubles étaient même très usés, mais pour une nuit c'était correct. L'environnement extérieur est magnifique. On a voulu voir un film de John Wayne dans le petit cinéma mais le DVD ne fonctionnait pas, ...

Nice clean room. Good location for exploring monument valley. Breakfast was fairly standard, good enough to get the day started. Everyone was nice and friendly. Gas, fast food and groceries all nearby.
