«20 minutes from downtown La Fortuna. Expect to travel about 5km of rough gravel and potholes on a road where locals live. There are signs along the way to keep you on track; I would not stay here without a car. The property grounds were well kept. There were 13 bungalows in a row; not a resort as the name states (no gym,no activities, no spa, one small pool, one small restaurant, no lobby etc). «Arenal Oasis was one of our favourite stays in Costa Rica. The staff, property, trails, butterfly dome, on-site restaurant and cottage we stayed in were all top-notch. We spotted some of our first jungle wildlife just wandering about on the property and really enjoyed staying in a location surrounded by a jungle environment. «The property was very unique- literally set in the rainforest! It was so lovely to sit on the patio and hear the birds, watch the hummingbirds, look at the volcano and be at peace. We stayed in the suite deluxe room which was incredible. We especially loved the open air rock shower! The rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and were cleaned daily. «Lovely self sustaining eco resort in the midst of the forest. We loved the food, the coziness of the cabin, the yoga classes, and wandering around the property. The farm tour and the night tour were fun activities to do with a 4 year old. We did not like: occasional smell of sewage around the property, especially around the pools. Dated bathrooms in cabins - needs a refresh. Construction noise around the property. »
