Middleton Hall & Gardens

The hotel is fine. The aircon was great (heatwave when we were there). Good room with a fridge, so in general happy with the room. We didn't go to the spa, so I don't know how that is. We did however have dinner at the restaurant one night. The service was so bad and the food was ok-ish, when we got what we ordered. We had to go find someone to order drinks and ask for water, and we tried to make contact with the waiters a long time. The cutlery was also dirty. We saw several other tables (most of the tables) sending their order back. Breakfast also seemed alot like dinner, with dirty cutlery and cups, and no service. It seemed like we could order breakfast from the kitchen (based on the menu on the table stating "breakfast"), but we didn't bother to find someone to order from...

The rooms were basic and a bit dated, but comfortable and clean. Staff were great, really friendly and welcoming, and the bar was lively in the evening with locals as well as guests, giving it a bit of atmosphere. The cooked breakfast was good, although the continental breakfast selection is limited - just toast, pastries, yoghurts and fruit. Marked cleanliness down due to the state of the gents toilet in the bar, which was not pleasant. The room itself was clean though.
