family stay in Lime Cottage

Our stay was very comfortable, thank you. The property was clean and well furnished in rustic style, with comfortable beds. It felt quiet and safe.Athol was there to check us in and had helpful advice about the area and where to go/what to do. We will definitely consider this again for our next visit

Not 5* boutique! More 2* worn out.

No one was there to check us in. The owner turned up 2 hours later. The property is very tired and the description and pictures are nothing like what you will get. The cooker didn’t work. Even the owner didn’t know how to operate it. The mattresses and had to be steam cleaned along with the toppers and carpets. We had to spend one night somewhere else at the owners expense while everything dried out. The unit we had does not overlook the pool and we were very much on view to other occupants walking around. The access is very poor. The pool cover had to be removed by us and umbrellas put up by us if the gardener was not around. Having said all that the owner was very pleasant and very helpful. He did his best to accommodate our complaints but the fact remains that we should not have had any complaints in the first place. The area is beautiful and easy to get around and is ideally located for Cape Town and Hout Bay.

Fabulously Constantia

The acid test of any stay is would you go back? For us it’s a definite yes. This property is a large home in Constantia which is split in to a number of units. We had booked a 2 bed unit but our host put us in the main house, a 6 bedroom 4 bathroom unit with direct access to the wonderfully heated pool. I think our host had got a few over booking issues and unfortunately we had to leave a day early but in fairness he arranged for us to stay in a lovely guest house not far away. The main house has everything you could possibly need, good kitchen and the grounds are beautifully manicured. My only real issue is that the pictures on the VRBO site and the website are a confusing. The site should specify which part of the property you are renting and state whether it has access to the pool/hot tub etc.And finally there is Jacko the African grey parrot who shares the main house accommodation- he is very friendly and you find yourself talking to him!All in all a great stay, Thank you Atholmain house

Lovely Oasis in Constantia

We enjoyed a fantastic stay while in Cape Town for a wedding. The host was excellent and made sure we were well looked after from communication prior to check in to sending us on our way. The location is great and the property itself is very well equipped making it an ideal choice if you want to spend some time there or equally visit the many restaurants and attractions close by. Thank you for a lovely time!

All is not as presented…

So, I'm unable to review the actual cottage as on paying the balance via Vrbo I was emailed by the owner to say 'there was an issue with Vrbo and his booking system' which meant he had double booked. But we could stay in the main house for an extra R5000, or get a refund. As this was peak season we were left with no alternative but to accept the additional cost. Given the cottage is billed as 5* we expected more from the main house given the extra cost (which we didn't pay in the end) The house and whole premises are very tired which is a crying shame. Towels are threadbare (looks like the ones on order as mentioned in a previous review have yet to arrive), bed sheets old and one pillow case had holes in it, hot tub looks like a health hazard and was covered with dirty bubble wrap, off-cut carpets cover the high-use areas in the bedrooms (buy a rug!), TV's weren't tuned, weird coloured soaps in random old plastic bottles with the labels washed off were provided as toiletries (no idea what the were or what they were for), matching blue pool towles (as shown on the photos) were nowhere to be seen, rather random threadbare beach towels were provided (they looked like they'd been left by previous guests) I could go on and I have photos to support everything I've stated above. The owner checked us in and then we never saw him again for three days. In short, it's not what you see in the pictures or read in the reviews.

Grewat location !

Loved the area, very quiet and serene. Owner very nice and affable.initial communications not clear though and hard to get hold of or gainnfull understanding of property which is made up several units with shared areas. Some units far more private than others. Parking tight but ok . Area beautuful and perfect location. House needs some attentiin w new towels etc but all ok and functional. Id stay again but in different unit.

Ferienhaus zum Entspannen

Es ist ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus mit einer sehr guten Ausstattung. Man hat jede Menge Platz und viele Sitz- und Entspannungsmöglichkeiten. Die Betten sind superbequem. Toll ist auch die Veranda, bei der sich die Fensterfront komplett öffnen lässt. Laut Anzeige hat man den Eindruck, Pool und Dachterasse befinden sich direkt am Ferienhaus. Dies ist leider nicht so. Jedoch ist alles im Grundstück des Eigentümers vorhanden. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit in diesem sehr geräumigen und gemütlichen Cottage.

We thought we were staying in the cottage as shown next to the swimming pool but a “cottage” in a complex of various buildings where other occupants and staff were passing by our large french windows (it was like being in a gold fish bowl) and no immediate space to sit out without being disturbed.

Cozy, cute place in Constantia

We really enjoyed our stay at Lime Cottage! The Cottage is part of a larger and well situated, safe property and has some outdoor space, like a lawn where we had a nice BBQ, as well as access to the shared pool ans sundowner terrace. The Cottage is extremely comfy and well-equipped, with large rooms and common space. Host is very friendly and always helpful!! Thanks for a great stay!!

Great place to stay.

Perfect location. Up market area with awesome drives right on your doorstep. I found this 2 bedroom Cottage furnished to the highest standard. Very well located neat the mall and the highways. Athol is a great host. And is always available to assist with places to go etc. and I found the cottage very safe. Highly recommend this place.

A true home away from home

The 2 bedroom cottage is well laid out and has everything you will need for a self catering stay. A nice verandah to smoke on. And the most comfortable king size bed I have ever slept on. I would definitely come back to stay again.

Beautiful Cottage in Stunning Location

Lime cottage is beautiful and is exactly as shown in the photographs. It's very well equipped, in a highly secure area and ideally located for visiting the Constantia Wine Estates and Cape Town's Southern Suburbs. Athol is a great host and really helpful. He checked in advance our arrival time to ensure he was there to meet us. He explained everything about the cottage, provided information about the area, and was on hand when we had a mishap with the safe. We wanted a few days at the end of our holiday to relax before returning to the UK. Lime Cottage was the perfect place for this. We would love to return in the future and would highly recommend a stay to others.

Honeymoon in Constantia!

WOW! What an amazing end to our Honeymoon! The cottage was just as described, we did not rent a car and solely relied on Uber. It was very easy to get around, we even did a wine tour using Uber. There is a mall and grocery store near by. This is a very safe neighborhood. The pictures do not do the cottage justice, it’s gorgeous and we did not want to leave! Athol is a wonderful host and lives on the premises, very responsive and overall a great guy! The pool and hot tub are beautiful. We had lunch at Beau Constantia, highly recommended! The views are amazing! We stayed in the Lime Cottage. We are from California and can not wait to come back!

More then expected

Big, quiet and clean. With everything we needed and more. Most rentals are bare boned but this was well furnished, with little unexpected touches all over the place. Very easy to find . Nicely located. Close to shopping and centrally located to all you want to do in Cape Town. If you want a day off you can laze by the pool or take my advice and walk one of the many walking paths in the area. Host and his staff were great. Friendly and happy to help with anything questions or help we needed. You can't go wrong staying here.
