A beautiful way to spend a few hours. There are lots of bird sighting opportunities here. You can drive around the wetlands in about 15 minutes (guesstimate) but we took 3 hours and walked it and spent a lot of time photographing the birds and alligators. Viera wetlands also known as Ritch Grissom Memorial consists of man made marshes and is home to a variety of birds and alligators. It. Is a calm peaceful place where you can walk, cycle or even drive thru. There are 4 marshes and if you are lucky and patient you can witness the alligators moving from one cell to the other. I was lucky enough to capture one such alligator crossing.
A man made wetlands can't be so natural!! Alligators and lot of exotic migratory birds in action. Here is a frozen moment of a beautiful northern harrier on a hunting pursuit.
