Field by the Templar Way A tree by the gate from this was taken casts its shadow across this field. The unnamed wood on the right, which straddles a northing gridline, contains the source of a small stream which feeds into a leat in Bovey Tracey. The buildings, at Five Wyches Farm, are in SX8078, and the distant hill is at Shaptor.

Towards Chapple from Stentiford Lane A view from Bovey Tracey Bridleway 10 across a stubble field. The farm at Chapple is a few metres across an eastinbg gridline into SX8077, and the barn straddles the line. Beyond is part of Colehayes Plantation. In the distance are the hills around Shaptor and Stonelands on the far side of the Bovey valley.

Check in was easy, good communications with host. Well equipped, comfortable and spacious apartment with a great view of the bay. Good value for money, especially in the off season. A car is a must as the roads are very, very steep.

Newton Abbot

Ilsington: St Michael's Church There has been a church on this site since the 11th century although the present cruciform building dates from the early 14th century with 15th century additions. In terms of area the parish is one of the largest in Devon. John Ford, the dramatist who wrote the controversial tragedy "'Tis Pity She's a Whore", was born in nearby Bagtor House and baptized in the church on 12 or 17 April 1586.
