Riverbend Park has a great area to kayak and canoe there are plenty of islands to take a break on and many people in the area we're also fishing. The rentals are only around $25 for a half day and a great way to get on the water after exploring the trails along the shore.

The Billy Goat Trail (section A) on the Maryland side of Great Falls takes about two hours and makes for a perfect afternoon hike just outside of DC. It does get quite popular on weekends, but there are plenty of rocks overlooking the river to have a peaceful picnic.

We stay at a lot of B&Bs when we travel. This is one of our favorites. RowanLark at Headwaters Farm in Olney Maryland. There is an interesting history behind the home including the fact that both Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill stayed there. Anyway, beautiful home and rooms with an amazing pool area.
