Skihytter i Virginias

A world of subterranean wonders, a milestone in geological discoveries, Luray caverns, is a wonderful weekend getaway for those who are living near DC or Virginia. It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC.
This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns.
All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern.

Tips:
1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays.
2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things-
Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within!
The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;)
The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! DO NOT miss this one!

«We loved staying here. The hot tub was super clean, the property was quiet & lovely. The yard for the dog or fire pit was large & totally fenced in. You can tell the owner is very diligent keeping the fencing intact. The house is clean. There is an igloo which is really cool if the weather is bad & you want to be outside. "Greit hotell. Gangavstand til metro som som også gikk til flyplassen. Rolig område med noen spisesteder. Vi hadde ikke rengjøring de 4 dagene vi bodde der da det var rengjøring en gang i uken. Stort rom med kjøkkenkrok. Det var kun 1 lenestol, kunne vært 2 da det var plass til det. "
