Uzutrakis-godset

On our way to Užutrakis Manor, we were crossing through what the locals call the old Potato Road, but if you’re hoping to see the potato fields, it’s not going to happen. Instead you will get a fantastic scenery along the lake Galvė with the picturesque views of the old Trakai Castle. You also get a chance to go on a few viewing platforms along the way for great photos or a tranquil moment to enjoy the calm of the nature. We were told that the Potato Road was used by the locals who worked in the Užutrakis Manor as they rarely travelled by water, however, soon there should be an opportunity to do that too.

If you have already visited Trakai Castle, you must have noticed the white building across the lake looking like a white swan. Užutrakis manor house is a French style inspired château and if someone had said we were in France, I wouldn‘t have blinked even for a second believing it to be true. The estate is really exquisite offering the views of Trakai Castle and the surrounding scenery. It also contains a park created by Édouard François André, a famous French landscape architect. We were told that the estate‘s Soviet history was quite tough, but today Užutrukis manor house has reemerged as the prime example of the noble life in Lithuania that is accessible to public. If you are lucky, you may even find yourself in the audience during the concert of classical music here – an experience not to be missed!

The hotel was not to bad. We had a deluxe room, and it was nice and big. A sofa, good size bathroom, big bed. Beds where good, just a little hard pillow. No AC, but it was a fan and possible to have windows open at night. Breakfast was ok. New hotel, so it looked nice. In a smal street just 5-10 minutes walk from old Town and a lot of restaurants. For the price it's a good place to stay.
