Tara nasjonalpark

View over the canyon of the Drina river from Banjska Stena viewpoint, in the national park of mountain Tara.

A footpath leads you here from Mitrovac, a tiny village in Western Serbia that has a few hotel facilities and can be reached only by private transport. The following places can be visited nearby:
- Baijna Basta: a small village near Drina with a river house become famous thanks to a beautiful picture on National Geographic.
- Perucac lake: an artificial lake in the middle of Drina which hosts a regatta in July.
- Mokra Gora, with the Šargan 8 railway and Drvengrad, an ethno village built by Kusturica for one of his movies.
#NationalPark

The Tara Nationalpark in Serbia is an awesome place to go hiking. We found this tree right next to the quite busy viewpoint Banjska Stena. We started our hike in Mitrovac and did a circular trail (route 9 to the viewpoint and 9a to go back) which took around 4 hours. There is a road to the viewpoint, so there are far more people than on the hiking trail, but it is still definitely worth a visit. The views are amazing!
