Bridleway in the Upper Dove Valley 845173: previous image - (image 7 of 10) - next image : 845184 The photograph was taken from a bridleway that is part of a route from Brund in Staffordshire (behind the viewpoint, lower right) to Pilsbury in Derbyshire (ahead, left). It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly the bridleway from this point to Pilsbury was a packhorse route as the footpath joining from the centre-right (note the 845181) carried a packhorse route from Sheen to Pilsbury bridge (now a ford).

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly the lower section was, carrying a route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen. The hill on the other side of the Upper Dove Valley (partly obscured by the trees) is Carder Low. The village of Hartington lies about 2½ kilometres to the south (along the valley to the right).

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly this, the lower section was, carrying a packhorse route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen. The route to Sheen leaves this bridleway a short distance ahead (approximately where the track disappears from view). Just behind the viewpoint and to the right the bridleway comes close to the 845189.

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly the lower section was, carrying a route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen. As can be seen in the picture, this section of the bridleway suffers from significant erosion. A few of the buildings in Pilsbury can just be made out through the trees.

We stayed in a classic room, which was spacious and comfortable. You can park at the front of the hotel to unload then move your car. Breakfast had a varied choice although slow with the tea & coffee.
