Arrived late at night due to a severe delay in our train travels, but had no problem checking in. Tried calling reception to order room service, but was unsuccessful in reaching anybody on the phone, it was however resolved quickly when I walked down in person. Don't expect specifics from the menu to be available late at night; I got something quite different from what I'd ordered, but that was adequately reflected in the price I paid, so it was all good :) The temperature in the room however, was less so, it was absolutely smoking hot for no reason that I could identify, other than the apparent lack of airconditioning, and the duvet provided was quite heavy and suited for an entirely different type of weather. Lovely classical style, pleasantly oversized room, beautiful backyard with what looked to be the restaurant (didn't have the time to check that out), extraordinary water pressure for an English hotel (both the wall-mounted and hand-held showers could be used at once, luxury at its finest!) but separate taps for hot/cold water both in tub and sink (who wants that in 2014?), otherwise what looked to be a newly refurbished bathroom. Centrally located, not too far from the station, very close to the Cathedral. No problem storing luggage for a few hours after checkout, staff pleasant and helpful.
