Way too expensive for what you get..
The beds were uncomfortable and the shower did not work. Furthermore the staff were quite unprofessional, and some a bit condescending. I did expect some level of quality for this price, so I'd rather recommend a hostel in town.

If you have rented a car then hotel location doesn’t matter. Hotel was by the way 10 mins drive from the city center. And also close to a shopping mall. Interior of lobby is somehow a bit modern but this hotel is not near to what they try to show in pictures. 

Room size was big but it was old and badly needed renovation. We booked a king size bed but it was actually two single beds joined together. I called reception to ask if they have a proper king size bed? But I got answer that that’s how they have in every room, 2 twin beds joined together. Which actually slid apart during our stay. Pillows very not comfortable either. Wifi speed and signals were worst. We had to use our 4g internet during our whole visit of 4 days. Hot water pressure in the sink of bathroom was soo low that I had to wash my face with cold water. We dint get time to use spa the first 2 days but when we thought to visit spa/sauna/pool on Saturday, it was closed. Restaurant downstairs have very little variety of food but food was really very good. But it was closed at lunch time on Sunday and fully booked at night. The hotel itself disappointed us. Never going to stay there.

Enkel standard på både rom og frokost. Tydelig gamle bad. Resepsjonistene er hyggelige men veldig ineffektive. Spa-avdelingen er veldig bra, og gjør hotellet verdt et besøk.

Skuffende opplevelse
Hotellet var langt unna en 4 stjerner (slik dere i expedia fremstiller det som) og innfridde på ingen måte de forventningene vi hadde. Bortsett fra resepsjonen så var hotellet gammelt og trenger sårt en oppgradering. Personalet var meget uhøflige og lite hjelpsomme.

Det var et veldig fint hotell utseendemessig. Frokosten var helt grei og personalet gjorde jobben sin, men fikk ikke inntrykk at de var i godt humør. Rengjøringen av rommene va skuffende, søppel lå ofte igjen etter rommet var ryddet, sengetrekk som var skitene ble ikke byttet ut og fingermerker på speil og vindu ble ikke vasket bort..

Three days at Hotel Iceland
Excellent room and breakfast, and not very expensive. Only minus is that it is a bit long to walk (about 30 min) to the centre of Reykjavik, but there is a buss stop near the hotel. Recommend Askur restaurant 5 min walk from the hotel, very good food at moderate price.

We walked from here to cruise ship port, was about 45 min but very scenic traveling through the gardens (botanical gardens are nearby and we enjoyed the cafe inside there and its beautiful to enjoy while waiting cruise ship departure time, or its a 5 min tax ride to the port if you choose to drive. Breakfast was wonderful!

We had a fantastic stay here in April. The property was clean and modern, the staff was over the top helpful, the breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day and the in-hotel restaurant on the ground floor was excellent. We will definitely be coming back.

I made my reservation with a free breakfast included. However the hotel lied. Also my keys always stopped working. Breakfast staff and front desk staff are very rude. Spa always closed 30 minutes before the stated time.

The small Spa was only open to 6 pm due to holidays . However very small considering the size of the hotel . I could not understand why was not open w/o personal for being just a small jacuzzi and a very small pool .

This is a great little property for a long weekend in Iceland. We weren’t aware that the spa wasn’t included in our room so we had to pay each day for it (around £15 each) which isn’t too bad but wish it was clearer on the booking. Location is good but we had to get scooters or walk to get into Reykjavik town so maybe not ideal for guests that can’t walk/travel so well. Clean hotel and helpful staff. Nice spa and gym area! Didn’t use the restaurant or bar but looked nice enough. Our basic room had a nice view of the mountains but it was a bit old fashioned, perhaps the newer rooms are nicer. Overall a good stay!

Warmth amidst the cold
Hotel Island was very clean, comfortable, and friendly. Multilingual front desk and restaurant staff very accommodating. Food and drink delicious. Check spa hours before assuming open, but they allowed us time in the gym when the holiday hours stated closed.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. the hotel was convenient to downtown but not in downtown. The parking was across the street and simple. The staff were very nice and accommodating to our needs.
