I prefer more authentic Costa Rican hotels/resorts vs a chain hotel close to the airport. While the taxi ride was more expensive, I felt it was worth it. «We stayed here the night before our flight home, to be closer to the airport. Very much an ok stay. Pros: Good shuttle service to the airport. There's a pool. Dinner at the restaurant was good. Room was a good size. Cons: The hallway and especially our room smelled quite... musty? They all had wall-to-wall carpets, and everything was clean, but there was a distinct smell. «We stayed one night in a room with a single queen bed. Our room was clean and had a mini split type AC. We were quite surprised how nice the property was considering we only paid $65 which included breakfast. Hilda checked us in and gave us a gate opener for use to park. Our room was small and had an opaque window but we had access to a very comfortable large open lounge area and pool with lounge chairs.
