Our stay at Crown Paradise Club Puerto Vallarta was very disappointing from arrival onward. Our first room had visible black mold, broken air conditioning, cockroaches, several non-working lights, no safe, and an alley view. When we asked to be moved (not upgraded), staff told us we would have to pay. When we explained we were only asking for a habitable room, the staff member shook his head and walked away. Another staff member slid a key card across the counter and told us to “see if it was good enough.” The second room was at least safe, so we accepted it. Customer service throughout the stay was often rude and dismissive, with very limited English spoken. We were even told that unless you are clearly wearing Canadian apparel, guests are assumed to be American and not wanted. The beach is beautiful but overwhelmed by aggressive vendors (10–15 at all times). Security claimed they could not intervene unless touched, yet vendors later poked and prodded guests anyway. Sea-Doos repeatedly drove through the swimming area. When a guest with children asked one rider to move for safety, he yelled “Do you want me to get out of my own country?” and sped off dangerously close to swimmers. Restaurant reservations were nearly impossible, lines were long (40 minutes for buffet, 20 for bars), and billing issues occurred with room service charges being attempted twice.
Positives: Michael and one other staff member were excellent, Club Nitro shows were great, and early morning pool hours.
