The Paramount is right in the heart of downtown Portland. Within a block is shopping from Nordstrom, Pendleton, and Columbia as well as other designer labels. On both sides of the hotel’s (North and South) are parks. One is full of trees and lighting, the other a community space meant to connect others. Two blocks away is the pioneer square with transit to almost anywhere in town, local food trucks, and historic buildings. The Paramount has two restaurants on site, the Tavern serves up a mix of new American cuisine at affordable prices, and Swine delicious cocktails and small bites. Both can be charged to your room to come out of the deposit required ($75 per night) and the $10 daily credit. There’s coffee available outside in the lobby, and vending on multiple floors too. Their property is 15 stories high, yet the elevator is lightning fast. Within 20 seconds I was to my room, and ready to enter. Also, they take security seriously. Room keys required to use the elevator, and in the evening. The room was standard, had decently made furniture, a comfy king bed with many pillows, and came stock with shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and hand soap. Lots of different lighting options in the room, means you can adjust to comfort. The blackout curtains darkened the room so sleep was easy. The only true downside to the hotel, is that there were no microwaves in room or traditional room service. Otherwise, it was a great stay in the heart of downtown.
