Streetlife in Khuzhir at Olkhon, Lake Baikal.
This is the money shot for Lake Baikal, a huge huge lake in Siberia. For me it was an adventure to go by train from Ulaanbaatar to Irkutsk then on up to Olkhon Island, the spiritual home of an ethnic tribe very similar to Mongolian nomads - the Buryat. This island had special spiritual meaning. #Adventure

Sacred shaman poles on Olkhon Island, called the heart of Lake Baikal.
The Shaman Rock is one of the nine most holy places in Asia. 13 totem poles stand tall at the entrance, guarding the sacred rock, representing the 13 deities of Olkhon and bearing colorful ribbons, known as ‘Khadag’, placed by pilgrims. The five colors symbolize different aspects of the environment. Blue for the eternal sky, green for the earth, yellow for religion, red for fire, white for milk.
