Would not recommend
The rooms and breakfast were the only good thing about this place. But the food at the resturant wasn’t that great. And it also took ages everytime, even though there weren’t many customers. I ordered the same food two days in a row, and they were totally different. The spa that they offered online was closed, and we were told to go to the hotel next door, which was just weird. On Hotels.com it also says that they offer free airport transport, but when asked they said it was 6000 rupis - on Uber/pick me it only costed 2000 rupis so we felt like we were being scammed. And later check-out was 5000 rupis per hour, even though there were many many rooms available and not many customers at all. They also did maintenance at the pool all day, and the drilling sound was very unpleasant while trying to relax. And the crows also liked to use the pool. At some point we had to leave the area because there were 20 crows surrounding us.

Stayed here one night after arriving late in Colombo. It was okay. Clean but very dated. Breakfast food was not good.

Expedia did not submit my booking. I had to wait for hours until things were sorted out. When I thought everything is solved Expedia also forgot to submit that I booked breakfast. The receptionists were helpless and asked me to sort it out. But as a guest this shouldn't be my responsibility. The next day they provided breakfast complimentary because of the inconvenience. Generally the staff was very different. Some attentive an quick (especially during breakfast) and some quite some slow - but all friendly. My journey wasn't what I expected therefore. But the hotel is nice and provides a relaxed athmospehre. Anyway I cannot recommend to proceed a booking via Expedia ever again. Their reply to e-mail was: It could take 72 hours - 28 days for a reply from the responsible dapartment. Thanks for nothing.

Good, not great.
Beautiful property and grounds, but has started to show wear and tear, which is a shame - because it really is a lovely hotel. Private View from my room was a blind wall, while there was a good view of the lush garden from entrace door. The issue is, opening the curtains to get this garden view will limit your room privacy. So not very practical in design. Rooms are quite spacious however. Ordered ala carte meals, and their service could improve in terms of time and also getting the order-notes correct. They had twiced missed the very simple instructions/ requests I had made. Food could improve in taste too, for the price they charge. The next-door-Jetwing Lagoon offer better meals at a better price. Staff were friendly, decent and welcoming. Overall, can recommend and may return myself, but with hesitations.

Amazing Hotel and Staff
I traveled from Canada July 26, 2021 and booked this hotel for only two days but ended up staying for 2 weeks and would like to mention as to why this hotel is so special to me. The staff members at this hotel were so helpful, polite, courteous and friendly. I was given a beautiful, large clean bedroom. I must say that I had not stayed in any hotel that had such a large room and an en suite. I was very pleased. Its a lovely and peaceful hotel to relax away from the busy city. Arie Lagoon is a beautiful villa type hotel in a beautiful setting with gardens that has lovely rooms with private verandas, the view of the lagoon from the restaurant area is spectacular, It has a large clean pool close to the lagoon and another close to the reception area. Many other amnesties as well. There is a play area for kids as well. The property is immaculately maintained I must say even during this pandemic.One of the best hotels that i have been to and I recommend this hotel to anyone that would like to visit Sri Lanka. You will never be disappointed.The food is amazing. There was a sea food buffet that I enjoyed which had many kind of variety that was delicious.

We really enjoyed out stay at Arie Lagoon. The hotel grounds were very tranquil and peaceful. All of the staff were extremely friendly to us during our entire stay. Even even came back to a crocodile and elephant towel figures in our room! The hotel is in a small village so it’s quiet nearby if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. The only negative experience was when we checked out of the hotel and asked for a tuk tuk to drop us in Negombo beach front. The manager or reception staff ( we are not sure) asked the tuk tuk drivers across the road for a price which offered a price 4 times higher than the actual as we checked through uber. We did say that’s unreal and instead of the hotel staff helping us, they just went back inside without apologising or offering another transport. We ended up finding our own tuk-tuk for the real price and of course tipped our driver. It was just unpleasant to be lied to just because we are tourists. Apart from that everything else really was excellent!

Lovely but double check booking etc
Arie Lagoon welcomed us with a comfortable transfer from the airport. Initially when we arrived there all staff were welcoming with lovely comfortable and spacious rooms. First day went by with no issues. However we had been given the wrong room and did not complain as this appeared to be their choice. On our second and final night we were asked to pay a substantial amount and/or move room due to a staff error placing us in room which caused a large convenience and put a damper on our stay. Pool area was lovely with suitable sun loungers, attentive waiting staff and good choice of local and western food. Rooms were tidy and clean. Spa available which one of us used for a massage which is recommended. There was also a small gym area. We would stay again. Laitha (sorry wrong spellings) and Sengena were very good.

The property has been beautifully laid out with good amenities. However, within a few minutes of being shown to our room we had a phone call to say that there was a problem with the aircon so were taken to another room. The bathroom ceiling in this room was open to the elements above the shower so we requested a different room. In this room, we didn't find out until the next day that the shower door was faulty and would only open 12 inches max. Also the hinge on the angle poise of the TV was broken. The restaurant has a set menu for the evening and did not cater well for vegetarians.

Hospitality is disgusting! Staff need training!
What a disappointment!! From the start of the booking it was just an unhappy place! Hotel is beautiful and the location is fabulous but the staff at reception and at the resturent need training how to treat customers. We had a late booking and the guy at the reception made it very difficult for us. Breakfast is very basic! I mean very very basic for a 4 star hotel. Who gave the rating!
