On the far side of the valley, in mid distance, is the embankment of the Salisbury-Exeter railway at the start of the gradient where the line climbs up the Umborne valley to Honiton. Musbury: Musbury Castle View from the site of the iron age hillfort, accessible by public footpaths – steeply from the village and more easily from the north, along the ridge. Looking south west to the mouth of the Axe and Seaton Bay. The Romans had a port at Axmouth and this is reputedly where the Fosse Way ended. Axmouth village is hidden by the wooded Hawkdown Hill, the site of a second hillfort. Musbury Castle stands 170m above sea level

Great rooms the bed was so comfy. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was just total mayhem- too many people in a small area, shortage of plates and mugs. The layout needs to be re - designed. The queue for food clashed with the coffee machine! The actual food was ok though
