The famous pink lakes of Mexico, Rio Lagartos. A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico.
We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. After driving around the salt mountains for some time, we finally found someone local who took us to this beautiful private salt lake.

«Great location by the water. Snorkeling was great. Having a pool on the property was nice. It is about 10 minutes from the city, so it is nice to have a car for transportation. Inside was spacious and clean. There were air conditioners only in the two bedrooms, but were able to cool the place down. Kitchen had a microwave, toaster oven, large refrigerator and a stove. Overall, it was a nice, quiet and relaxing stay.»

«One adult with mobility issues was not a problem. Main floor bathroom and bedroom with easy in/out access was great. This is a property that either requires a rental car, taxis, bicycle or a good deal of walking. We had 2 mobility scooters which easily provided transportation to shopping and local restaurants. However the beach requires either a taxi or Collectivo. The Collectivo's run frequently and will pick you up at the front gate. The draw back is they are fast and can be quite full which ...

«Relaxing and lovely spot, can’t beat the beautiful beach right out the door with pelicans floating by. Setting is definitely unique, but friendly and chill and the space very comfortable. In particular we really enjoyed the pool for our 2 year old. Some minor mishaps in communication ahead of check in but they were resolved with care and responsiveness, and we got to thoroughly enjoy the weekend. »
