Right in the center of everything. This old house has beautiful bones and sits right at the edge of downtown in Historic Montrose neighborhood. A private pool in the backyard, a kitchen with plenty of cooking and eating space and a place that feels like a home not an ikea showroom or a hotel.

This house feels lived in and charming and very, very comfortable. There is ample space, a piano that I really enjoyed playing, and a great backyard. Combine that with how walkable everything is in this neighborhood and it would be hard to find a better place to stay nearby. Big fan. Highly recommended.

We traveled all the way from Canada and were very happy with our story. Very nice neighbourhood, clean house, and well kept pool. Stayed with 6 friends and this was easily the best place we have stayed thus far.

This vintage home had all the comforts for a wonderful stay during a difficult time. 3.5 miles from MD Anderson was key for us. The pool provided some much needed relaxation after daily trips to the clinic. The kitchen is very bright and welcoming. The venue is located in a very quaint, quiet and safe area. We were very blessed to find such a beautiful place.

The kids were of course very happy to have the pool to theirselves and was a great treat for us adults too especially when the temp was really high! We stayed for one week and everything was great we didnt have to message the owner for any problems, she actually messaged me first to say the gate wasnt opening and closing correctly and i confirmed yes and she sent someone to fix it in a timely manner. The house has many rooms with different styles. We loved the victorian older style feel of the home. The front porch swing was nice as well! There wasnt one thing we had to go buy all stocked from dishes to pots and pans even a pizza cutter and ice cream scooper, seasonings to coffee and tea we LOVED that also LOVED the pool floats thank you for supplying those to your guests! Only dislike is the beds, beds are just smaller than we hoped for and a bit hard especially for a couple or if anyone has a child that may need to sleep with them. The owner had everything ready for us, access to and inside of home was easy, there was a paper in kitchen of basic rules and a bit of information about the home There is a bonus in the home that i wont mention here youll just have to stay and find out for yourself but i personally enjoyed it and of course the kids too! Thank you for a great home in a great neighborhood and the gating and fencing made us feel safe and actually at home. We would absolutely stay here again! Top 5 of homes we have stayed in.

Best friends

wonderful. Stay in this wonderful, cozy house. Everything was so easy. The communication was great. There is nothing about this house that we did not like. We actually love this house. And we’ll definitely get it again.

Good old house w/lots of character. Very roomy/comfortable, lots of living space. Great neighborhood location, in the inner loop, close to downtown. Great pool/outdoor area, you will hear some local bullfrogs at night . A good ‘home away from home’ house

Roaches, black mold, fleas and abuse

what a nightmare. the house had roaches, i found one in the upstairs bathroom the 2nd day. i thought it was a one off. the next day i found a few fleas in the kitchen area, they seem to come from the neighbor if you look out back you’ll see she has a makeshift compound for the strays in the area. the upstairs bathroom vent has black mold growing out of it. by day 2 i cried and begged my husband to get us out the fleas were everywhere leaving marks on me and my infant but i was there for cancer treatment.in the end we fled the area with our belongings in black garbage bags. the owner is abusove and said she wants our money even though we didn’t stay the full stay she will be keeping it. i guess exploit people when they’re down getting cancer treatment with an infant. the pool as you can see from other reviews was rancid.

Just as advertised

This is our second stay at this property. We stayed March 2024 and 2025. The property was as advertised. It's a great price per night for a great location. Yes, the home could use some TLC, but for these older homes, pre 1900 build, that bit of TLC could be really expensive. The owner is very responsive and could be reached through the app easily. The home was clean and suited our needs perfectly while we visited with our daughter who live in Houston.

Hits and misses

Positives: Property location is excellent! Descriptor “VINTAGE” accurate from the furnishing, squeaky floors, close layout. Loads of space - easy enough to be alone while traveling with others. Off street parking (1 car) street parking hit or miss but not awful. Host (Kat) was genuinely nice, responsive (less than 5 minutes to return a call or text) and pleasant to speak with. There are no wall power strips w/USB–C or USB-A charging ports (bring your own). Also, there are loads of wall outlets unfortunately, they don’t all work, make sure to check after 5 mins. to assure your device is charging properly. Pool looked great in pictures but we were unable use because of the algae which Kat thought we could clean ourselves but, cleaning the pool was not on our agenda. Finally, in the very early morning hours (between 1:30-2:00A) I woke up to water being sprinkled on my face and pillow there was water dripping from the ceiling and the blades of the ceiling fan were catching the droplets and tossing them all over the bedroom. I was able to capture a video of the leak in action and send the video to Kat NOTE: I did leave a large bowl to catch the water and hopefully avoided damaging the rug).

Nice old home with a great location and host

We stayed in the Montrose area last year for a month and again this year. Last year the property was sub par. This year it worked out fantastically. We had room for visitors and hosting family and friends. Everything worked as advertised and the host, Kat, was great also. Early on in our stay, I asked about a toaster (there was not one0 but Kat ordered one and it was there in a couple days. It is an older home, so you have to be able to put up with some old home quirks, but we just thought they added to the charm. The Pool was nice, but the weather for us wasn't really pool weather. It was clean and the pool service came through weekly. There were plenty of linens, kitchen necessities and comfortable rooms and beds. Thanks Kat for a wonderful visit.

Great house and location, although minor issues did exist

The house is incredible. The rooms are clean and spacious and well-laid out and the amenities are top-notch. The location is convenient to downtown Houston, the University of Houston, the Medical Center, sports stadiums and freeways to get you where you're going. The decorations are nice and the house has many nice features. The owner, Kat, is very nice and responsive to questions. We did have a couple of issues, however. One of the main reasons we rented this particular house was because of the pool and, although it's nice to look at, we were unable to use it because of the buildup of algae in it. Also, there is an issue with the electricity as the lights in many of the rooms flicker randomly frequently. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Houston.

Great location

Perfect location and close to a lot of things you'd want to do in the Montrose area. Unfortunately one of the A/C units was out during our stay and it was a little hot in the bedrooms at times. Overall really loved the charm of the house and the host was very communicative.
