«The staff were very friendly and helpful. They accommodated us by making take away breakfast boxes because we had to leave early. Typical pub/inn with typical pub food. Under new management, so they were adjusting. The location was perfect, right in town and we got there early enough to get parking on site. »

«We had a great welcome and were shown to our fabulous room. Spacious and well decorated, it had a great spread of tea and coffee with real milk in the fridge! Comfortable bed and new, good quality bedding. Plenty of drawers and hanging space. Sofa and desk for daily activities. Tha bathroom had the best walk in shower setting we have seen so far! «What stood out??? Well, for one, it was the staff. They welcomed me and gave me a lovely room. I had a table booked for 10 of my family, and the food was excellent. The wine was superb too, and I asked for a favour, which they delivered. This is one of my favourite hotels in the UK and will be my go-to whenever I go to Somerset to see my family. The only downside is the parking, but that is minuscule compared to the service I received from The Ancient Gatehouse. Well done all. »

«What an absolute treat The Red Lion is. I went of pervious reviews and it didn’t disappoint. In fact it exceeded my expectations, what a gem of a place. The Staff were simple amazing, David and Jasmine were fantastic and always on hand of we needed anything. The rooms are so comfortable and modern, the Breakfast was fabulous and the food in the pub was outstanding. My only problem is that I won't have the homemade biscuits that were in the room, tonight with my cuppa tea when i am at home.»

«Jeg bodde kun 1 natt på hotellet ifm gjennomreise. Hotellet ligger i utkanten av Wells så en er avhengig av bil / taxi (eller offentlig transport ?) dersom en ønsker å reise inn til sentrum. Stedet tilbyr mange aktiviteter i nærområdet (ikke benyttet) - tilsynelatende mest for barn(?) Rommet var stort og baderommet var også av god størrelse. Stilen var nøktern og upersonlig, men komfortabel og rent. Alle forventede fasiliteter som TV, WIFI og vannkoker med kaffe og te var ...

«We are local to the hotel and stayed here for a few nights whilst some work was done on our home. We pop in frequently for breakfast anyway as it’s excellent value and very customisable, but found the room & service to be very good as well!»

«A pleasant overnight stay in a warm and friendly Pub. The room was of a good size and clean. The staff were helpful and we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar on returning from an evening out. Good breakfast and would definitely stay again.»
