Fantastic accomodation

Andrew was an amazing host and his property in Filey is absolutely beautiful. We had a fantastic time celebrating my nephew's first birthday. As we could bring our dog, we enjoyed fabulous walks at Flamborough Head, Bridlington and Scarborough. Memories for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much, Andrew!

Great place, very well equipped and lots of cutlery, mugs and glasses which really helps when a few of you staying. Nice quiet area at the very top of the bay (so a bit of a walk for anyone that may struggle) with a nice grassed area shared by other residents. Would come again

Fantastic coastal retreat

Just returned from a long weekend stay at The Anchor. Lovely property, very well looked after, immaculately clean. No issues during our stay. Heating was on a timer which given the temperature had dropped rather cold during our stay meant the house was lovely and warm both in a morning and in the evening. The Bay complex is lovely, again very well looked. Easy access to the beach which is a 10 minute (ish) walk from the property. Once on the beach, and assuming the tide is out, you can have a stroll on to Filey-it’s a bit of walk but easy enough on the beach. Would we return to The Anchor-absolutely we would. Anthony (the owner) clearly cares for his guests and his property and this shows. Thanks for a lovely weekend away.

The property was excellent throughout and was fitted to a high standard with all appliances etc that you could want. Lovely and clean. On a nice development with good facilities and access to a lovely beach.

Lovely well-maintained cottage in handy location for East Coast attractions

Just a couple of night's stay in what is a clean, well-appointed cosy cottage. Weather was ok but not that good, which always tends to colour one's judgement of a place, but despite that we had a nice short break. The Bay development is well laid out and it was reasonably quiet with the school terms just starting . The rear of the property backed on to several others in an open-plan style, so I imagine it could get quite noisy depending who your neighbours were - but no direct evidence of that to be fair. Went down to the Bay beach on the first afternoon - too far to walk so drove to the Pub car park and walked from there - still a decent walk left. Beach pretty empty but it seems everyone has one or more dogs. Managed to step into some dog dirt on the beach, which is unforgivable really, certainly when we had a 3 year old with us who wanted to play in the sand. Didn't go back to that beach again! Went into Filey second day. Typical run-down East Coast resort that has seen better days, but at least they do ban dogs from the beach May to Sep - big plus point. Despite those slightly negative points, they shouldn't reflect on the Cottage which is a little gem and highly recommended.

Upsetting

We have received a very upsetting message fom owner that in the five years he has owned this property never had damage like this a whole list of things that were found and what he had to do to put this right we were not aware of any of this and then he said cleaners could not get into property at 10 am we had packed up everything my husband was waiting at the car when they arrived I was just saying goodbye to people next door house was ready for them to go in my husband said they had just arrived the owner said they had to leave and come back but as we left they were unloading van,I have booked with Owners Direct in the past also visited Filey Bay and had lots of self catering holidays and have never experienced anything like this I would never anyone's property different than my own there were lots of things that were not as I would have expected with bond cleaning fee and extra for pet the owner has had extra £230 so cost of holiday was £1416,we had a very enjoyable family holiday but ruined by very upsetting message from owner Thank you Wilma Burns

AMAZING HOLIDAY IN AN AMAZING HOLIDAY HOME

So I've just spent my first ever doggy holiday and what can i say it was AMAZING. Anthony Smith and Family your home is the perfect home from home with the added extra of the beach just 10minutes from the front door through a beautiful nature reserve or meadow as it's called. We spent 2 weeks in the Smith family home and everything from the decor to the weather couldn't have been better. The location of the house was brilliant due to the closeness of the beach and the facilities that the Bay holiday Village provides, Anyone going here or looking for a place to go with either children, animal or both will love everything about it. The Bay and the surrounding area has so much to do as well, from walking to Go Ape for the more adventurist and shopping in Scarborough or York too not to mention the fun things like Archery, swimming and Tennis that is all free when you stay at the Bay and if you stay at the Anchor you can even bring your dog with you to enjoy it even more. By the time i put my two in kennels for 2 weeks i was more than halfway to paying my bill for the cottage for 2 weeks so I felt i'd had a holiday at a fraction of the price it would normally cost me. So why The Anchor at the Bay? The location of the cottage is amazing (apart from some traffic noise if you leave windows open) the open space of the meadow is a great place for the children to kick a ball or play with a frisbee without annoying other people and when we did it the neighbours came out and joined in and we had a great time. The house is in the middle of 3 or 4 other houses yet you couldn't hear anything from any of the neighbours and one family next door had 5 children under 10 with them. The house has one family bathroom and a down stairs toilet and we had 5 adults (three daughters in their late teen early twenties) staying and not once did we find this a problem.The lay out of the house is amazing with a separate lounge so when my daughters wanted to watch Love Island my husband went and sat in the seating area of the kitchen and watched the tv in there. there was also tv's in all the bedrooms so five adults could all comfortably watch a programme of their choice at the same time all be it in separate rooms of course. So all in all an AMAZING holiday was had especially by the dogs may I add who did not have to spend any time behind bars as my daughter calls it when they go to kennels. We as a family will be returning to The Anchor sometime soon I hope.

Great Property in Great Location - Just perfect for a family holiday

We enjoyed a fabulous week in the cottage which is perfectly placed to walk the dog and enjoy the huge beach which is only a few minutes walk away. The cottage itself is really well equipped and was very specious for a family of 4. Having the 3 bedrooms was great as our boys like to have their own room and it was really nice to have a spacious kitchen / diner so that we could socialise when cooking. Anthony was a perfect host and was very responsive with information and responding to requests. It is obvious that they take great pride in the house. The fact there is pub and leisure centre on site made it very relaxing and all the people we met nearby were very friendly making a great atmosphere in and around the holiday park whilst being within easy reach of Filey and the attractions of Yorkshire

Beautifully presented cottage

We had a lovely time at the cottage, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. There is all you need provided for. The bay is a lovely development and we loved the walks with our cockapoo on the sweeping (huge!) sandy beach. The owners are very responsive to messages and I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday cottage to anyone. It is well loved by the owners. Thank you for a great time in your home! Rachel x

Welcoming and Excellent Location

Stayed here for a few days with some friends. Lovely welcoming, spacious house with all the facilities and equipment you could require. It is excellently situated for exploring the coast and there are some superb coastal walks nearby. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable stay in this pretty house

The cottage is well equipped and is very pleasing to the eye. 4 of us and a dog shared the property for 4 days. It is very handy for the beach and nearby walks. We would score it 7.5/10 the reason for this being the uncomfortable beds which were far too soft for our liking. The central heating was on and not required and it was difficult to control. There was a problem with the dishwasher trays coming out when loading/unloading. All of these comments were in the visitors book from a while ago and nothing had been done to correct it. This is meant as constructive criticism and not just moaning. We are also landlords and respond to feedback from clients. This property could easily score the full 10 and we would go back especially if the comments had been acted on.
