Booked the home for a fishing trip the third week of April. The home is on the Doe River and has a very nice, covered deck on the back overlooking the river. Every night we sat out on the deck and relaxed to the sound of the water and the rapids. We had awesome weather and enjoyed the stay. The house is well appointed and decorated. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare and cook meals all week. The bedrooms were comfortable. The living room was set up well to watch tv in the evening.Fishing was slow on both the Doe and the Watauga. A neighbor told us about the flooding in September of 2024. I am sure the flash flooding took most the fish with it. We saw both minnows and a hatch and I am sure both rivers will be back to producing excellent fishing soon.We drove up in the hills east of the Wilbur Dam as well as Roan State Park. Both drives are worth the time. We hiked a bit at both locations. The Appalachian Mountains are beautiful in the spring. It would be worth a fall trip.Thank you to both Richard and Diane. We enjoyed our stay!
