Chirnside Parish Church graveyard An interesting mix of headstones at the corner of the square. 4 squares converge in this graveyard. The kirkyard was the site of a famous resurrection in 1764 when Marjorie Halcrow Erskine, the second wife of the Revd Henry Erskine, was laid to rest in a shallow grave by the sexton who later returned to steal her jewellery. While he was trying to cut off her finger to steal a ring, the corpse awoke and dashed off across the kirkyard to the manse door, which she pleaded the minister to open ‘For I’m fair clemmed wi’the cauld.’ Apparently, in her additional years of life, she gave birth to two sons, Ralph and Ebenezer Erskine, who founded the Secession Church. The fate of the sexton is not known

Harelaw. Hill with a covered reservoir on the summit. Guarded by hungry sheep,the cold spring has held back grass growth and the lambs get through a lot of milm.

This was a charming country house hotel, with friendly and professional staff. However the room was a huge disappointment. While sold as small bedroom nothing prepared us for how small. Absolutely amazing. Such a stunning place, with great food and wonderful service. Stayed one night in one of the beautiful cottages. Had the best dessert I’ve ever had in their fine dining restaurant, and one of the best omelettes during breakfast. Will be back, and stay longer next time.

A fine hotell by the cliffs, we enjoyed a fantastic view to the fine breakfast. The hotel room was fine, but a little old. Would recommend, if only for the view.

NO NATIONAL PARK !!@Lovely apartment, I stayed myself with 3 grandchildren aged 8,6 and 5. They loved the balcony watching the boats and exploring the harbour and beach. We had a slight problem with the heating, the host attended and ensured we were comfortable. Great service. Thank you.
