The room had a lingering smell that was very reminiscent of old cigarette smoke, as if it had once been a smoking room and the odour was never fully removed. In the bathroom, there was visible mould in the caulking, which is not something you expect at this price point. The garbage bin was rusted, and the kitchen tap was broken, making it awkward to use.
Cleanliness was another issue. The room door, along with many other doors throughout the hotel, appeared unclean, with greasy handprints on the handles and surfaces. These are small details, but they add up and affect the overall impression.
Nothing here was catastrophic, but the accumulation of maintenance and cleanliness issues made the stay feel below standard for a Mercure hotel. With proper upkeep and attention to detail, this could be a much better experience, but at present it feels like the property hasn’t kept up with its past standard.
