The check-out time is 12 noon. I went back to get my things from a long tiring Berlin walk at 11:45. My things are no longer there. The cleaners have taken my things already from the room. That was not entirely okay. That was disrespectful.
I understand the front desk made a mistake due to communication problem. She thought I was checking out from the hotel after I paid additional for breakfast. The reception was very helpful though when I asked help with wifi, since one has to pay additional also for this.
What frustrates me is the supervisor, who came to me to ask if nothing was lost from my belongings after the room cleaner gave my things back. Yes, it was a simple mistake, but the supervisor was rude. She is implying indirectly that it was my mistake for going out early and not explaining where I need to go. I never thought hotels need explanation of where their customers need to go after eating breakfast, so the reception does not misinterpret it as checking out.
Think if I intended to check-out why were my things still inside the room? Is it difficult for the cleaners to see that there was a misunderstanding and it is inappropriate for them to put the customer's personal belongings in a plastic bag?
The room was spacious enough. However, expect cleaners put your things or left papers somewhere else in the room. They just keep it somewhere, just find your things in your own room. That might be very convenient.
